Use Pocket to save articles, webpages, photos, and video for later viewing, online or off. If your eyes need a break, the app's new text-to-speech Listen feature will read your content aloud to you.
Cross-platform: You can save content to (or access content from) Pocket using your iPhone, iPad, or desktop. Directly save from over 800 apps, including Twitter, Flipboard, Prismatic, and Feedly using the Pocket button. If an app doesn't have the Pocket button, email yourself the content link at add@getpocket.com, and it will show up in your list. If you're accessing your content on the Web, you can also save from Pocket extensions for Chrome , Firefox , Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera. No matter how you save, your post is instantly synced across all platforms.
Improved readability: Pocket increases font size and does away with the ads that otherwise crowd webpages. Your article or video is now front and center.
Different views: There are so many ways to view your content in Pocket. You can use a dark or light background theme, sort your links by newest or oldest first, use Best View so that Pocket can automatically decide whether Article or Web view is preferable, enable page flipping by swiping left and right, justify text, and/or justify and hyphenate text in Article View. All these options are available under Settings.
Highlights: As you use Pocket more frequently, the app starts organizing your content by relevancy.
Offline downloading: You can download content for viewing online and off.
Sharing: Share content with your friends via the Share menu. These messages will appear in your inbox or theirs. You may also share over Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, or email.
Listen (text-to-speech): Open any article and tap the More button to start listening to your content. Adjust the speed of the reading by sliding the scroll bar from Slow to Fast.
Informative intro: Pocket's intro teaches you the many ways to save items for later viewing.
Enabling Push Notifications: We never understood why we were forced to permit Push Notifications to enjoy cross-platform syncing.
Searching and suggested tagging: If you want to search your articles by text, tags, and more, or get tagging recommendations when you save content, you'll have to pay for Pocket Premium. We think these features should be available for free. Regardless, you can still swipe across an item and tap the Tag icon to tag it manually.
Videos: In our tests, videos would often save to the Articles page instead of the Videos page. Additionally, there is no direct way to share from YouTube to Pocket. However, there is an IFTTT recipe you can use to do this.
Pocket is a useful app for saving text, photos, videos, and more to check out later. But the app really should offer better search options with the free version.
