My ratingWrite review
I found it very easy to use with Windows 10 on my HP EliteBook. It has nice features like the ability to create a music bed and individual editing of photos.
The drag to size photos is very jumpy with the mouse. It is random and difficult to get the size and position you want. When simply scrolling or panning and not resizing as it pans, the video looks okay; however I notice the video appears to lurch constantly if you want to expand the photo or resize it in anyway as part of the video.
For a free program, it is a nice little package with some good features, and on the whole I like it and can put it to some use. Photo Story 3 does, however, lack professional polish.
Would make a nice slideshow if it could actually generate the video.
Two massive dealbreaking flaws:
1) no widescreen support - there is a workaround for this that involves distorting the images and tricking photo story into outputting a widescreen video. However, I had a very hard time even finding a tool to do said distorting and ended up using a command line tool (ImageMagick).
2) after spending a lot of time distorting the pictures (for the widescreen workaround) and customizing the Ken Burns motion effects on each photo, I found the software utterly unable to create the video file (I kept getting the 'not enough storage or memory' error). I tried two different PCs (win7 and win8) and was only able to get a video file once I had cut my project down to 8 pictures (ordinary pics from smartphones and point-and-shoot camera).
In summary, I had a hellish experience with Photo Story and wasted a lot of time. The software feels like it belongs in the 90s, when photo sizes were small and widescreen was uncommon. In the end, I found an old Macbook and easily made my slideshow using the stock Photos app.
Works on Windows 8. I have the 32 bit version which could be why. Though I have read some 64 bit Windows 8 users cannot run it. Like windows Movie Maker 2.1 and 2.6 quite user friendly.
Not many. Some users say it won't install or run on Windows 8. But it's working on my Windows 8 32 bit.
Photo Story 3 is working on my windows 8 Pro-the reason is probably because I have got 32 bit. Though some users on 64 bit Windows 8 cannot get it to run.Don't know if that's true or not as I don't have any 64 bit Windows. I have also tried Photo story 2 which also works on Windows 8 and compliments PS3. Photo story3 works with all version of Windows Movie Maker,Windows Movie Maker 2.1,6 and Windows Live Movie Maker. It can run on Windows 7 and Windows Vista as well as on Windows 8. Which is good news for Windows 8 users wanting this.

Before I try downloading it, what version of Windows 7 are you having problems with?
it's very useful
none so far
I like the product!
Easy to use and good results achieved
Come on this is a free programme and it doesnt pretend it can do jobs it cannot. I have even managed to get it working on Windows 7 because I use it that much! There are NO CONS ITS FREE AND IT WORKS!
Still photos into a slide show, add music and text and save to disc or computer. NO ONE I have done one of these for can believe its been done with a FREE programme, one of the best and most used FREE pieces of software I have ever been fortunate enough to use. If you want more bells and whistles go pay for a programme for a freebie this cannot (as of yet) be beaten!
