From Microsoft Games:Download and install this version 1.0 patch for Pandora's Box. This patch fixes a bug specific to computers with new Pentium III processors, which produce the error "Unable to create DirectDraw surface. Make sure that DirectX is installed, and then try again." upon startup.
Note: This patch will only work with the retail version of Pandora's Box.

Pros: The patch resurrected my 8 year old copy of Pandora's Box and it runs just great on my Win XP Media Center op sys.
