"Simple resizing tool; great for making web/email images"

October 19, 2014  |  By MGarcia5678

 |  Version: PLiska Image Resizer 3.0

Pros

- Quick, simple setup and small program window
- Just a few settings to get the results you need
- adds either a prefix- or -suffix to your resized image filenames, whatever you want
- Not only reduces the pixel dimensions, but makes a very good compression in file size with the finished images

Cons

As someone else commented, it would be nice if the program had a field(s) to save the resized images in another folder or create a new one & save. Right now, it just writes the files in the same folder as your image source.

Summary

It's a great, handy tool! Got it on the recommendation of professional graphic designers online in a chat room and I've used it ever since, both for personal and for work. Saves a LOT of time, makes the finished images perfect for web viewing (both pixel and file size), AND, even though it's free, it doesn't decrease the image quality or put some watermark on the image from the application's author/creator. A great, free product!

BTW: someone here posted that the program has malware/viruses or whatever? Not true. Have downloaded many a copy on multiple computers and have never experienced an "infection" - I double checked with AVG and MalwareBytes and both gave the application a clean bill of health.

"Excellent De-Sizer!"

January 07, 2014  |  By BearPuppy

 |  Version: PLiska Image Resizer 3.0

Pros

I got this program to shrink my photos after doing all the editing of them that I wanted. The problem is that most editors wind up increasing the size of a photo the more editing touches that you apply (even basic steps add to the file size).

In most instances its not a big problem, especially given the huge size of HDDs. Where it does become a problem is when you want to do something specific - send it via email, post it to a site, create a photo album, etc. .

In those instances you need an application that will take your photo and compress it without losing any of the editing you've spent hours creating. PLiska is the app you need.

As just one example, I use an avatar that at its maximum pixel size of 188 x 200 has a file size of over 32K (32,000 bytes); PLiska shrunk that to 4,096 bytes, and the quality of the resulting picture is excellent.

Cons

There are no obvious problems with this software. Adding a way to show the relative 'before and after' views would be a nice feature.

Summary

When so much software is bundles with crapware and doesn't seem to quite live up to its descriptive hype, PLiska is a refreshing change - nothing bundled, and the software does exactly what it says. Its earned a permanent home in my Imaging Toolbox.

"Does exactly one thing, Perfectly!"

July 29, 2012  |  By lstollin

 |  Version: PLiska Image Resizer 3.0

Pros

Drag and drop
Set your larger dimension, it automatically keeps the correct aspect ratio
Dead simple to use
Prefix or suffix added to resized image - you decide
Puts resized images back in their original folder, not all together with every other image the tool has ever resized in some default folder.

Cons

None - it just plain works well.

Summary

I've been using this tool for years, and am constantly recommending it to friends. Like I said at the top, it does exactly one thing, and does it perfectly. And it's so easy to use. Never again will I re-size one-at-a-time with any other tool, even if it's just one image.

"Very handy image re-sizing tool"

March 19, 2012  |  By MarkGatESS

 |  Version: PLiska Image Resizer 3.0

Pros

Works perfectly in Win XP Pro. Very simple to use. Great for turning bulk quantities of large JPeG images into "web-sized" images. I use it frequently!

Cons

Wish it would allow you to create a sub-folder or allow you to put a path in where you want to save the converted files to. That way they're not mixed with the original files - currently, the converted files are saved in whatever directory you get your originals from. Haven't tried it, but I don't think it'll convert files from multiple folders/directories at once.

Malwarebytes also found scumware in the install.

Summary

"More than great"

January 28, 2009  |  By asfalothus

 |  Version: PLiska Image Resizer 3.0

Pros

It works great, and is so useful. It really changed quantity of my time spent resizing pictures, and quality is great. Also, I am sure that it would be hard to find some other tool that would shrink images to such a small size, compared to resolution

Cons

There is nothing bad to say.
