CNET Editors' review
PDFCropper provides two sets of tools for adjusting any PDF to be viewed on a personal device. With a confusing set of instructions and poor layout, this program is on shaky ground.
PDFCropper instantly rubbed us the wrong way with its vague interface, which left us confused and in need of assistance. The program's PDF Help file was slightly enlightening, but it kept us guessing about how half of the features worked. By either cropping a PDF or "reflowing" it, we were supposed to be able to view PDFs comfortably on handheld devices. The user-friendly cropping options allowed us to view crop lines and also to adjust them, which eliminates unnecessary white space and compacts the text. Unfortunately, reflowing our PDF was not as easy to understand or accomplish. The Help file led us to believe that Reflowing has something to do with pulling text from a document and laying it together in a readable way. However, when we finally located the Reflow command, we couldn't see that it made much of a difference. PDFCropper includes a feature for changing text direction and color, but it didn't feel especially useful. We liked the ability to choose different types of handheld readers, but we should note that we didn't have any on hand to test the output with, so we can't judge its effectiveness.
PDFCropper leaves a watermark on output during the trial. It installs desktop icons without permission. We can't recommend this program because it has a confusing layout and we're concerned with its functionality.
Publisher's Description
From Odinn:
PDFCropper is a program designed for preparing normal sized PDF's (A4, B4, Letter) to be readable on relatively small devices (Sony Reader PRS500/PRS505, iRex Iliad, Sony Librie, LBook eReader, Cybook Gen3, Jinke). The main problem with PDF is that it is not reformatable. Wide white spaces, bad structured content make the situation even worse. As a result, these PDF's look too small on small devices, it is almost impossible to read them. There are 2 ways to solve this problem: cut original pages into smaller pages or reflow PDF. PDFCropper allows to prepare PDF by using both ways. More than this, it allows to combine both ways to get most optimal results.

"Great program to prepare PDF files for Sony Reader"
Version: PDFCropper 1.63
Pros
Reflow and Split options.
Cons
A little bit hard to understand a concept of frames.
Summary
PDFCropper is really great software! I bought my Sony Reader a month ago and firstly was really disappointed as I wasn't able to read comfortably any of my books in PDF format.
I started to google and found some reviews about pdfcropper.
This tool helped me to solve the most of my problems with fitting PDFs into small Sony Readers screen.
What I really enjoy is reflow option, when pdfcropper analyses the text in PDF and creates new one with any font size that you choose.
Another good feature came with the latest update -- ability to split PDF to several files. It is useful because sometimes Reader is too slow when reading large files.
I wanted to read books on my native language, but it wasn't possible as Reader understands only Latin symbols. PDF cropper solved this problem as it may insult fronts right into PDF files.
It is somewhat difficult to understand a concept of frames which PDFcorpper use to resize the pages. But with the assistance of the programs author I handled with it.
