1. You can sign PDFs digitally 2. You can stamp PDFs (like "Draft") if you want 3. You can add comments to PDFs 4. The program is pretty bug free 5. Great help book on line 6. Integrates well into Windows 7 7. Software is fast
1. A little hard to download - must use the 64 bit version for 64 bit Windows 2. Adobe has improved their free reader and it has some features that XChange does not have
PDF XChange is more flexible and has many more features than the free Adobe viewer. Particularly useful is the ability to add comments to PDFs.
Viewer and editor which allows commenting, text insertion, sticky notes, shapes, etc. It also allows the user to insert links to pages, urls, or other files. While you can link to internal pages, you cannot create a bookmark in the free version. You can integrate it with your browser if desired. Some tools are available only in the paid Pro version but these features are clearly marked on the menu. I use the portable version on a USB stick and it is every bit as good.
On occasion, it locked up Firefox 12.0 so I am using it as a standalone viewer/editor. A few features are for the Pro version only but these are well marked.
Rich-features with commenting and highlighting features. Can also be used to fill scanned forms. Despite having more features than Acrobat Reader, much less bulky and far less annoying.
Free product lacks all features of paid version (like scan to PDF).
Despite previous review, free version NOT trialware, though Pro (paid) version does come with 30-day trial. I have used PDF-XChange Viewer for years, switching after Acrobat Reader kept bloating and crashing my PC. With the exception of one buggy update years ago, it has proven to be reliable, stable, and more fully-featured than any other PDF reader I have used. Various tools allow editing, sticky notes and even stamps. A variety of the latter are included (e.g., "DRAFT," and "CONFIDENTIAL," but you can create your own as well with text or graphics.
I have only nice time with using PDF-XChange Viewer
After hours of trying to get Adobe to work on my computer I found at last a product that works and I can do what I need to do. Thank you PDF-XChange!!! You're the best and I am enthusiastic over how easy this was to install and read. I am truly thankful!!!
Not as bloated as Acrobat Reader with more functionality. Love the ability to complete "pseudo-forms" (documents intended as, but not created as forms), type notes/edits on documents, and "stamp" documents.
None of substance. Full functionality of all features requires paid version (about $35 US).
Best PDF viewer I have used, hands down. Ease of use comparable to Acrobat Reader, with additional functionality for typing on existing PDFs and adding pop-up notes (great for sharing comments). I also like the "stamp" feature, which comes with pre-designed stamps (e.g., "Draft" and "Confidential") and the ability to create your own. I have used earlier versions for several years with none of the problems that Acrobat Reader has caused with bloated memory requirements, automatic loading of processes at boot, and the resultant occasional crashes I used to have with the Adobe product.
