"it says windows xp, but it doesn't setup for xp, haven't tried another o.s."

by hmazuji on November 1, 2007

Pros: it wouldn't set up. used a download manager to ensure the download. based on other user comments, i confirm something is amiss.

Cons: can't evaluate it if i couldn't run it. i guess what i didn't like is that it wouldn't set up / run.

"POC... Poor for Large DBs and Media Player Libraries"

    by Jimar6158 on March 27, 2008

    Pros: Nothing!!!!

Cons: Large (65gb) DBs or Media Player files (wma, mp3, ini, etc), a --?pile of code (you know what I mean)?. Scan required, 4.5 hours/Recovery was ?STOPPED?, after 8 days/7 nights(no choice) running. When stopped, MUSIC FILES WOULD NOT PLAY!!! Error messages suggested an error relative to licenses, format was changed! All files played prior to the recovery. The Usability is worsted of programs available. During scan/recovery, the ?Time Remaining? indicator gives a random number! In Recovery, the indicator runs, then, restarts at a large number, 71,582,000 min./135 years(+/-)!! During recovery, ?Single choice, meaningless? messages, would ?stop? the recovery. ?OK?, required to continue!!! A meaningless option when the code runs continuously, NON-STOP and one options available. File recovery is slower than the original RIP!! Other problems are present in file recovery when ?time indicator? changes, but would require more effort than this POC is worth!!! CRAP is a better label. Stay away from from this one for large DBs and for Media Player Music Libraries

    "Free, And It Works."

    by Brian_Watters on April 17, 2007

Pros: Lets you un-delete files that have been "permanently deleted". It only took me about 10 minutes to use it the first time, it's pretty simple.

I was indeed able to recover many files that should have been permanently deleted. Awesome.

On a more devious note, you can use to program to see what OTHER people could easily find on your computer (like police/customs/your BOSS). If you find that this program provides a bautiful list of your nasty old files, you should then download and run the program called "eraser". Re-run PC Inspector and hooray, your naughty list is gone and replaced with jibberish.

Cons: Somewhat slow. The program displays all active files in addition to the deleted files (fortunately in a separate list). I'm certainly no computer guru, but it seems like it would be much faster to just list the deleted files; we already know about the files that haven't been deleted.

The list of deleted files contains many ghosts (even when restored, there is nothing there). However, it's my understanding that this isn't really PC Inspector's fault. So don't expect to be able to restore EVERYTHING on the list it gives you.
