From Burrotech:From the developer: ""Free email (POP and SMTP) server giving everyone on the LAN external and internal email, using a standard email client like Outlook. Aliases allow many users to get email from one POP account. Intelligent routing allows instant internal emails.
""New antivirus feature will disarm any incoming email virus or worm (like Melissa).""
It's free, however, I don't particularly like adware so I did not configure it or did not test to see if it worked as stated. If you don't like addware (banners in this case at the end of every email) thans don't bother
it's addware. It should be listed on the limitation but it's not.
I was up an running with this as a POP email server on a closed box test environment in about 5 min. I was concerned that this was a just a gather and distribute program which requires you to use external servers etc. Not the case, its both a standalone email server and a email distribution system.
Follow these simple steps to get it running with no network at all and start sending emails to yourself :)
[ WinXP box ]
1.) add two users to the Users tab (for the POP account)
2.) add two email addresses to the Local Distribution tab sending email to the two accounts you just created.
3.) Open up outlook express create 2 mail accounts. Making sure to specify the correct email address (which may or may not be the same as the login to the account) Use your machines name as the email servers.
4.) send a test email from the frist account to the email address you gave the second account!
5.) that is it! you can now email yourself as much as you like!
I found this software simple to use and support received was very quick and helpful. An excellent product if you have mutiple users using one computer. Haven't tried this on a LAN but should be simple enough to use.
