"A great WordNet client but not really a Thesaurus."
Version: Nisus Thesaurus 1.0.7
Pros
It is easy to navigate through the definitions of a word according to WordNet categories (e.g. `more specific', `has parts', `is a part of', etc.,) quickly and without having invested any time becoming familiar with the software.
Cons
This is a dictionary, not a thesaurus. For example, the word `window' lists as similar: `window (as in ``framework'')', `window (as in ``opening'')', `window; windowpane (as in ``windowpane'')', and `window' (as in ``display'')'.
Summary
This is mis-advertised. If you want a dictionary powered by WordNet, this is great. If you want a Thesaurus, look elsewhere.

"Great Thesaurus"

I was re-introduced to this when I downloaded Nisus Writer Express. It's a great thesaurus. I especially like the "more detail"/"more general" options -
"Great Application"

It does what it supposed to do, and does it well. The iterface is intuitive and unobtrusive. It's rock-solid stable. It's free.

"Perhaps I don't get it..."
Version: Nisus Thesaurus 1.0.1

...but take a word like "group" (because it has one of the largest number of synonyms in the English language). Look it up in your average Roget's or--even better--an online reference like http://www.thesaurus.com so that we can be looking at the same thing. Now do it in WordNet/Nisus Thesaurus. Someone tell me how this is this supposed to be better. Granted, it includes a definition (nice, but not what came for), and it has an interesting way of breaking out categories of meaning, but I came here for synomyms. Where are they? And if they are somewhere buried in there, how can I get to them as quickly as with Thesaurus.com, for example? Baffled. -
"WordNet rocks -- thanks Nisus!"
Version: Nisus Thesaurus 1.0.1
Summary

I've been using WordNet for a number of months, and think it's a great tool. Kudos to Nisus for making a very pretty browser and a very accessible package (I do also agree with the poster below who says that a contextual menu item would be great). And an even bigger kudos to the WordNet team for doing such incredible semantic work. -
"Good idea, but"

it is intolerably slow in opening. Other than that, thanks for a useful reference work. -
"I like it but..."
Version: Nisus Thesaurus 1.0.1
Summary

I submitted some feedback hoping that future versions would include dictionary support and be access thru a contextual-menu...also instead of taking up space in the dock have it work in the back-round like a true service should. -
"Outstanding"

Just what I have been looking for. Kudos...performs nicely so far.
