Why is this thing still around? It worked ok 20 years ago.
Works worse than the built-in burner.
Apparently, the makers of Nero are real survivors... kind of like cockroaches. How are they still in business? If I buy a paid copy of this program, do I get a free 8-track cassette? I'll call and find out, let me just pick up my rotary dial phone.... If you do buy the program and request a hard copy instead of a download, I think they send it to you on a stack of punch cards. I got a million of 'em, folks.
This program wasn't that good back when I was living next door to Barney and Betty Rubble, I can't believe anyone would buy it now except maybe for people who watch MeTV all day. What I'm trying to say is that it's outdated, and sucks.
I don't know, I'm out of 'old timer' jokes for right now.
None left :(
Limitations. Tons of them!
Don't bother buying this software. It got worse after years of "development". All the reviews below are true. If you simply need to burn a video or other files on a CD, you can do it directly using Windows. There are tons of free programs for this. Nero is done for.
Seems as though it could be ok ....
You can only burn 100mb - so it's a waste of time. The 'free' download is simply to try to make you buy the full version.
I just came here to post a bad review
useless piece of ancient software
there are small, free burning apps which work.
I used to use Nero years ago and hoped that this would be a good option to help me write some MP3 files to a CD while keep the original album sort order.
The free version that I installed allowed me to create a 700 mb playlist, but when I when I tried to burn to disk it informed me that the free version will only write 100 megabytes on a disk. IThis rather important detail was
It also installed and automatically some suspect "system checking" program, which I immediately cancelled and uninstalled. Also, if I hadn't chosen "advanced options" it would have installed something weird in my browser and changed my search configuration settings!
Useless and very suspect with what it tries to install on your system. Beware!
Works as advertised.
Being used, at least feel good now.
The interface is simple to understand.
Not useful for time critical projects for the following reasons:
Installation problems when upgrading to the full version.
In my instance, the installer failed to recognise win 7 as the OS n a brand new system and had to eventually be installed on another.
Live tech support does not exist for this product and many of the installation issues are not covered in the FAQ.
Support contacts difficult to find.
Once installed on a non win 7 machine, the audio playback from a burn CD stuttered terribly despite the error checker reporting no isses.
Refusal to refund despite requesting one within 24 hours.
For any time critical projects, this software is worse than useless. Tomezone differences and lack of live support for this particular product mean that tech support is limited. My own experience was that the installer failed to recognise win 7 as the OS and terminated the installation, despite reboots, uninstalls and reinstalls. When I installed it on a vista machine, the CDs (burnt for pre-master use) passed the error check but would not play back on any device without stutters and crackles.
If you are looking for something to use for making pre masters, do not use this. I would reccomend wavelab, if you can afford it. Nero also refused to refund.

I work for Nero and saw your review. I can certainly understand your dissatisfaction and I'm sorry for the problems you're having with Nero. Concerning the stutter during playback. This is most of the times caused by an incompatible media brand. By this I don't mean that the use media is off bad quality. Even the best media available may cause stutter if the media is not compatible with the play back device. I would recommend to contact the manufacturer of the play back device. They will be able to provide you with a complete list of certified media brands for their hardware. Further more it is recommended to lower the write speed in these cases. This may influence the burn result in a positive way. Please understand that the problem you describe can't be solved without receiving further info. As I can't verify what your e-mail address please contact our technical support dep. To do so use the following form http://www.nero.com/eng/support-form.html Thanks, Eduardo
Can't think of any!
The only formats this program will burn to DVD are VOB, IFO, or BUP
I spent $71 on this program: $50 for the program, plus extended download and a backup CD. I wanted to burn videos onto DVDs. The first thing I found was that there doesn't seem to be a way to insert a title screen. Perhaps there is, but it would take a search warrant to find it. I searched all through the so-called help file - nothing! I noticed that the program would not allow me to put the 3 videos I wanted to burn onto the same DVD in the order I wanted them. It kept arranging them in alpha order. After a couple of days trying to figure out how to use this program I contacted support and was instructed to send a screenshot which I did. The message I received from support said that I could not burn .avi videos onto a DVD only VOB, IFO, or BUP format. Seriously? So, to burn a DVD using this program you apparently have to convert videos to these formats. That's a bit of information that I, in looking at the information for this program again on Nero's website, do not see included in any of the specs. So, buyer beware!
A nice ad that promises a lot (but doesn't deliver).
Isn't usable with any common media formats.
I downloaded the product for $50 that promised to be very helpful but immediately told me that I would need to upgrade to another Nero product to be able to burn in a usable media format. I reported this and was told that I couldn't get a refund but that I would have to follow a long list of steps to get them information before they could start 'helping' me. Ridiculous.
