Navy Field: Resurrection of the Steel Fleet

Publisher's Description

From SD EnterNet:

Navy Field is a massively multi-player online game based upon actual WWII naval battles. We have created graphically engineered models of actual WWII ships, weapons, aircraft, and munitions from Germany, the United States, U.K, and Japan to use in these battles. Players are asked to construct ships, add armament combinations, and position sailors to execute specific tasks.

What's new in this version: Version 1.333 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

    "Would not run"

    March 26, 2011  |   By SandyGrim

Version: Navy Field: Resurrection of the Steel Fleet 1.315

    Pros

    Don't know of any

    Cons

Every time I tried to run this program on my high-end, two-monitor, 64-bit Vista computer, it crashed. It seemed to be confused by the two monitor set-up.

    Summary

Could not get the program to run.

"Typical strategy game with the typical winning strategy"

    March 13, 2011  |   By jester7--2008

Version: Navy Field: Resurrection of the Steel Fleet 1.315

    Pros

Nice graphics. Gameplay is fun for a minute.

    Cons

Typical game where whoever has the biggest of whatever item it is wins. The biggest ships, that you have to pay for, always wins. In a free destroyer you don't last 5 minutes in a battle unless you hide.

    Summary

Not so great unless you pay for the ship upgrades or bigger ships like the battleships or aircraft carriers. New players are immediately outgunned and sunk.

    "Now with free spyware"

    January 27, 2011  |   By mogwai1983

Version: Navy Field: Resurrection of the Steel Fleet 1.309

    Pros

Very few remaining Pros left. In the 2-3% of instances when the game actually works it can still be enjoyable enough/

    Cons

Forces the installation of spyware and keyloggers before the game will run, incredibly buggy and unreliable game engine, low performance servers cause constant disconnects. Company politics have now removed any enjoyment that the game used to offer

    Summary

The game is mostly comprised from a large assortment of different bugs which have been haphazardly assembled to form the core of the game engine. It disconnects constantly, fails to launch just as often and when it does eventually launch you're rewarded with great performance and a very intuitive UI right up until the point where you want to start playing.

The parent company don't listen to users concerns or requests, the bugs have been present for many years without being addressed, the sporadic events are poorly implemented and the feeling you get from this game is one of a bully constantly stealing your lunch money.

"Only good to pass the time"

    December 12, 2010  |   By smiles30o56209387

Version: Navy Field: Resurrection of the Steel Fleet 1.303

    Pros

This game is at the beginning. Lots of different ships to explore and play around with. New nation France being added is a nice plus too.

    Cons

Dont even think about getting in a room with Battleships if you are new. there are lots of people loaning accounts to friends to level up faster. Lack of ships at higher levels and after a while it gets pretty boreing

    Summary

Navyfield can be a fun game to play but for me it's just a way to kill some extra time. This is not a game for a serious gamer. It's fun for the first few weeks and then gets pretty boreing and mundane as the same battles happen over and over and over and over...well you get the point. They also say this game is free. And that's true but if you want 1/2 a chance to shoot or sink another ship it's FAR from free. You will need to upgrade and boost all your sailors (about 10 sailors per nation minnimum) at a cost of around $20 per sailor.

    Pros

    Great number of options.
    Decent Sound Effects.
    Good graphics.

    Perhaps too addictive.

    Summary

A very addictive game making great use of the mmo status. Only danger is in the addiction.
