In Myth II destruction reigns supreme. Castle walls will crumble under a barrage of Dwarven mortar fire. Drawbridges will lower before your besieging army. Flaming arrows will rain down from battlements, lighting the ground beneath you. Dark wizards will hurl deadly sorceries at your ranks, scattering even your bravest warriors.
Myth II: Soulblighter is a unique strategy game, set in a 3D world of dangerous alliances and ancient evil, where all beings tremble before the wrath of Soulblighter, cruelest and most cunning of the evil Fallen Lords.
What's new in this version:
- Massive OpenGL optimizations, especially with detail textures (2x - 5x as fast on modern hardware)!
- New event-based input system that guarantees every character typed will be registered.
- New preference to automatically save multiplayer films.
- Elimination of up to two ticks of baked-in latency in the Myth net code.
- Overhead map zoom level will now be saved between games.
- Fix for the endless "Waiting for other players..." dialog.

"One of the best games ever. Decade old, still awesome."

Pros
Super story in single-player mode, challenging levels with good warm-up and intructional scenarios, amazing physics engine, terrific multiplayer (both co-op and competitive), nice community of players.
Cons
If you want 2011 graphics, look elsewhere. Even so, the mix of sprites and polygons gets the job done. I don't need new graphics for Monopoly, either.
Summary
One of the best small-unit tactical wargames ever made, endlessly expandable so you can play Civil War or Star Wars if you don't like the fantasy universe of the basic game. But that fantasy universe is rich and includes some of the best voice-acting you'll find in a game of this type.

It is a testament to the Greatness of this game that such a large and dedicated community has kept it alive many years (in gaming time, many decades) after the original developers were detroyed (peace be upon them). For those who even think of giving this less than five stars, please keep in mind that if not for the developers who built this port, all you would have is a "Classic" app that wouldn't run on any modern computers. Again, thank you. -

Pros
Good Real Time Tactical game that is greatly enhanced by its multiplayer component. (go to playmyth.net to do this for free)
Not for the faint of heart or even those who's entire strategy is to mass produce and rush. Though being able to rush in certain situations is a nice skill.
In this game you are either assigned several unit types (during solo) or get to pick your units during multiplayer. Whats there is what you get, in coop you may get reinforcements, but most likely you will have to complete each level with what you get.
With still a community of upwards of 1000 seven or eight years after its release many veteran players around to learn from or else if you feel brave enough, you can make up your own strategies.
Free For All or Teamed, the game is enjoyable. Some maps played do 3 prong attacks, 2 prong and a fake rush, or even just one massive rush right through the middle.

This is the first OS X-compatible version I've tried, and I found absolutely no problems with it. Cut scenes, game play, OpenGL graphics support. I've not tried multiplayer yet, but I was never on Bungie.net, and only played occasionally on a LAN. -

cant think of any game i continued to play daily 5 years after i bought. not until myth. too bad the M$ / Bungie debacle and the woeful and over reaching m3 effectively killed myth. You can still play people online and playmyth.net. If you dont know myth from a hole in a ground you can buy a copy on ebay for $5.00 and run a a patch to make it osx compatible. it is worth it. -
