MySlideShow Gold is an easy-to-use program that allows users to create basic photo slideshows. We were pleased with the program's intuitive layout and useful--if not mind-blowing--features.

The program's interface is comprised of a series of panes and it took us a moment to get a grasp on how it was organized, but it soon became clear. One box shows a tree-style display of the contents of the user's computer, which makes it easy for users to navigate to the photos they want to use. Once they select the appropriate folder, its contents are displayed in another pane, and users select the photos that they want to include in the slideshow. Users can then adjust the order of the images, add captions, and remove duplicates. Optionally select some background music, click play, and viola! Your slideshow is done. The program contains the usual features that one would expect of a slideshow program; users can adjust the time each photo is displayed, customize the transition effects, and so-on. Users can save their slideshows as executable files or screensavers. There are no really outstanding features, but we poked around quite a bit looking for something we'd want to do to our slideshow that the program didn't support, and all the basics were there. The program's built-in Help file is well done, although we didn't need to consult it.

MySlideShow Gold has a 30-day trial period. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users seeking a basic and intuitive way to create slideshows.

Pros
File information can be added to the displayed picture. A good set of transition effects is available. A very good implementation of foreground and background audio files. An "Add in" allows you to insert text boxes, small images and video clips into the displayed pictures. An EXIF plug-in allows you to add EXIF information to the captions. A video plug-in allows you to create a VCD, DVD, or DIVX video file.
Cons
No automatic picture reordering. No way to pause the display or move to another arbitrary picture. All the caption locations you can specify overlay the picture, possibly obscuring part of it. If the audio for a picture is longer than the picture display time, it plays during the next picture. Not a great picture browsing program, but a good program to build canned slide shows.

Summary
If you want to create slideshows with music accompaniment, this is a perfect product. It doesn't have a huge number of bells and whistles, which makes it very easy to use. Yet it did everything I needed -- associate music with groups of pictures, tailored transitions and viewing durations, etc. Seems to support all the audio and photo formats needed. Very intuitive interface. Can export the show as a self-contained executable.

Clean, simple, well thought out, good options, nicely implemented. Great that it will resize and optimize your entire slideshow with anti-aliasing to a specific resolution. I just wish it would anti-alias on playback for the best results when the viewer's screen is a smaller resolution than the slideshow was built for. This one omission forces me to keep trawling through all the other downloads here. I'll probably end up buying this one though.

I have tried several programs and this one beats them all and is not expensive! It shows you your thumbnails, lets you add and remove without having to access separate files, lets you add captions and music. It is simple (and I like that best) to use and getting it to the CD couldn't be easier. The only "glitch" I have had is with the MP3 for the slideshow - when putting it on CD and replaying it, the music is "warped", even with the picture files in JPEG to make them smaller, as the support tech advised. I still really like this program. Having a 2-year-old and relatives that lives thousands of miles away, this program will be in constant use. Thank you so much.

very easy to build a good show, fast. Help file is good. semi-automatic slide/sound synchro, smooth transitions (though not as many as some programs - could be a good thing ;> ) Re-ordering isn't drag-n-drop, it's shuffling a list box :( which still beats renaming the files!
