    "Good instrument."

    November 17, 2011   |   By williamlambton

    Version: Musicjacker 2.1.9

    Pros

    Uses rtmpdump.

    Cons

Trial period expires instantly! No test possible, even though I registered with the site first. I have queried this via their contact form and will see what the answer is. The cost ($4.99) of the full version is small enough to write off. However, a trial period of zero seconds means that the offer of a trial period is, as currently configured, false. Playing sharp like that won't in fact increase sales, but put people off; so, I am assuming a software error and await confirmation of same.

    To be supplied...

Most of the above was written on 17th October 2011, with a star rating of two! The following comments, shown in the next update, were then added, starting 10 days' later. I ended up wanting to give the product five stars, but could not alter the original rating. So, Cnet obligingly removed my observations in their entirety, sending me copies for re-insertion. So, what's below, in the next update, are those. They are not completely up-to-date, as I haven't used Musicjacker for several weeks, as at 17th November 2011.

10 days' later. No response to enquiry! This seems to be a legitimate programme for grabbing MySpace material witheld from proper download. MySpace, and its clients, use your computer to play music which MySpace, and they, want you to hear. Instead of repeatedly returning to a site to play a favourite song, you're better off downloading it. The effect is the same, but with less hassle. Of course the idea is that, to avoid the hassle, you buy the song. But quite a lot of sites don't offer the music for purchase; and, it is not available anywhere else. So Musicjacker in fact enables more exposure to a piece of music, unless of course the music's creators don't want anyone to hear it! In which case, why have they put it in a very public postion on the web, fully playable?!! So, this useful tool doesn't have to hide. But if it won't answer a simple query about its trial period not being a trial period, and after 10 days of waiting, something's amiss.

I may still fork out, just for the hell of it, but would have done so a week ago, had the question been answered, and am not encouraged to send money to software writers who cannot be bothered to change their product's GUI to reflect cessation of their trial period offer. But then, it's only a piece of software, we're expected to guess without being told - and they're probably just a bunch of kids!

OK! I relented and paid the small sum. And I can confirm that, as of 1st November 2011, Musicjacker works on MySpace, whereas all of the other devices I've tried don't. Cnet's version is 2.1.9.0, whereas the latest version, 2.1.9.2, can be got at http://www.musicjacker.com/. Forget the trial period! Neither download, whatever you click, in fact provides one. To use the thing you must pay up. Very annoying they don't tell you; they shouldn't have a 'download trial' button which doesn't download a trial at all... They may have fixed this since my first post here; I did not try another download from their site today, only Cnet's. Anyhow, as the thing works, on MySpace, and I was able to grab the one song (unavailable for purchase) which had been annoying me, I will personally forgive them their administrative incompetence, if that's what it is. 5 stars!

Unfortunately, it seems Cnet won't let you change your original star rating...

    Updated on Nov 17, 2011

Right! The above THREE updates dated 17th November 2011 are my originals, pasted back into the site. As stated, I haven't used the product for a little while, but have no reason to suspect it no longer works, on MySpace. Musicjacker were certainly ahead of the rest of the pack, when I tried it.

"CA anti virus considered program to be malware, beware."

    November 27, 2010   |   By iggy14u

    Version: Musicjacker for MySpace 1.4.6.3

    Pros

    Sounds like a cool program.

    Cons

Never could install it as my anti virus would alert me to a virus/trojan/malware when I tried to install the program.

    Summary

It would be nice to try the program to give a real review, however, if it installs a virus/trojan/malware CNET needs to be alerted as well as take the program off their site to not allow others to be harmed by it.
