"A little bit better than flash, what concerns resources"
Version: Microsoft Silverlight 4.0.50524.0
Pros
Streams media within brows with acceptable definition, at least from the site I use for streaming media.
Cons
Pity the sound control doesn't work properly in real-player
Summary
To me it is just a plugin like any other streaming plugin, except that it performs a tad better than the last production release of flash.

"Not so great !"
Version: Microsoft Silverlight 4.0.50524.0
Pros
It's free.
Cons
Have to reinstall it on a regular basis to be able to watch Netflix movie downloads as sound gets chopped up or image freezes and gets out of sink.

Version: Microsoft Silverlight 4.0.50524.0

There are no pros for this product, it won't run on my PPC Mac.

Pros
No cost program
Cons
Doesn't work on millions of Apple Power PC computers
Summary
Would be nice if they would alert you to platform requirements BEFORE you wasted the time to download and then have to erase the program.

"Horrid"
Version: Microsoft Silverlight 3.0.40818.0
Summary

Exuberantly Frustrating.. just throwing more PROPRIETARY Video codecs out there. NO PPC Support, Demands much CPU, Has security holes. Loaded with M$ DRM. Kinda scary some of this stuff! Quality of video is deplorable on the mac, while on the PC it's mediocre at best. The sheer fact that this video codec is as inferior as it is on the mac in comparison to its PC counterpart should upset most. Micro$oft on YOUR mac, think they have your best interest in mind? -
"Not impressed"

Didn't do diddly squat for me.
Yet another MS product deleted from my drive.
Can't these people get anything right?
I also agree with the earlier comments . MS is known to "bait and switch" or discontinue Mac support at their own leisure when the heat is on about fixing the 1 legged dead horses they call software. -
"No installation issues, beautiful work"
Version: Microsoft Silverlight 2.0.40115.0
Summary

No problem with installation (Aluminum MacBook Pro). I wasn't a fan of Silverlight when it was the engine for the live games on MLB.com (since been replaced by Flash) but I just watched a "guided tour" of seven galaxies on the World Wide Telescope site and I was absolutely blown away.
Okay haterz, it uses Microsoft technology, but if Silverlight allows Mac users to experience astronomy like this, I fully embrace it. Amazing stuff.

"Re the Installer"
Version: Microsoft Silverlight 1.0rc
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Yeah, calm down, Cowicide. I've no time for Microsoft, and this is just a stupid ploy on Redmond's part to try to kill Flash and push Adobe out of the market. I definitely won't install this.
However, don't get too worried about the installer, because It's an *Apple* installer. I just downloaded it and started it to check that.
Start the installer and then check on the menubar under Installer > About Installer and you'll see that. It says:
Copyright (c) 1999-2005 Apple Computer, Inc.
Now, some software vendors don't use Apple's installer -- and, IIRC, that includes Adobe -- but at least MS did that. And being it's the Apple Installer it's got a *log*. Go to Window > Installer Log. Or simply hit Command + L. That logs everything the installer does.
But if you're really worried, try Rixstep's application "Tracker':
http://rixstep.com/4/0/tracker/
That'll tell you everywhere an application goes as well.
