- Love the unit conversions (esp. the currency conversion feature that imports current ECB exchange rates) - Three interfaces (standard, scientific and conversion) to suit your needs and comfort level - Blue skin to complement Windows environment
Cons
- No running tape to view, print or save (available with Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6 freeware) - Calc98 freeware has more unit conversion features (most of which you'll never use--Calc98 does not have currency conversion--see www.xe.com)
Summary
Of all the freeware calculators currently available (as of Feb 12, 2010), Microsoft Calculator Plus 1.0 is the best calculator for everyday purposes. The only reason this calculator wouldn't satisfy your needs is if your profession or academic demands (esp. engineering, finance, physics, astronomy, etc.) calls for functionality that is unique to your area of expertise. Otherwise, standard scientific functions are available to you here. Basically, download the app.
