  Just recently there was a mixed up with my order and Medlin promptly issued me a refund. We have been using it for the second year without any problems. Plus its way less expensive than any other program out there.

  Pros

  The only pros that I can give this product is that it does print checks nicely when you finally get it to print.

  Cons

  There are several cons to this software. If you have multiple accounts, you have to constantly go out of the application and re-open to go into different accounts. It does not print several options for report data, you have to choose one option at a time which is worthless. The micr module defaults to printing check #'s at the beginning instead of the end, which most banking institutions do not like. You end up ruining several checks or blank pieces of paper in order to finally get a proper template. It does not do the direct deposit as stated. Adding chart of accounts is difficult and cloudy instructions.

  Summary

  The customer service is inexperienced and very rude. I was a customer and they gave my account info to someone else, which could have had bad financial impact on my company, and then told me about it in a "matter of fact" explanation. They do not return emails in a timely manner and you can only correspond with them via email. They never answer the phone and will not take voice messages. But they will constantly email you to renew your software. As you can see from the list of reviews, look at the dates. The majority of reviews are old. They have lost customers with their unprofessional attitude. I will never again purchase from this company. Save yourself some stress and purchase from a real company that has a better product and real customer service department for support.

  But God forbid if you need customer service! The author of this program namely, Jerry Medlin is rude. I do church payroll and there is a salary line called Housing Allowance. It is treated differently by the IRS for tax purposes. I tried to tell this know-it-all idiot that we are required to report this income as self-employment as part of it may be taxable. Not only did he tell me off and refuse to look into my claim; he blocked me from using the software. It was the best thing he ever did. I found a new program even less expensive than his and when I mentioned about this salary line, they actually explained to me how to do it and issued an update to reflect my needs and the needs of all churches. They thanked me for my suggestion. It has been two years since he kicked me off of his program by blocking access and every time I post, it seems to disappear. Use this software if you must. Just pray that you never need customer service.

• Simple payroll program-like it!

  Pros

  This program is easy to use, even for me. Someone handled payroll for me with this program for a few years. In the last year, I managed to do quite well using it. Quick, easy and nice reports!

  Cons

  Ok--so--me the computer mutant accidentally somehow managed to delete my main payroll file! When I had someone from my organization phone the Medlin support line, the person was totally rude. (he claims we were rude--we were in panic-there was not data!) He was not helpful in even describing what the file would look like or be described on our hard drive. We managed to restore and everything was fine. 2015, I order my update and this guy (no name on email) basically says "no thanks" to my business and refuses to update my software!

  Summary

  The Software may be nice/good, but the company is not professional or supportive. If I acted like this in my business, I would not have any students! Buyer beware, very unprofessional! I'll purchase an Intuit product!

  IT'S CLUNKY, AND WORST OF ALL, IF YOU NEED HELP OF ANY KIND, THE GUY IS A COMPLETE A*S. NOT ONLY IS HE CONDESCENDING, BUT HE DOESN'T ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. INSTEAD THE ANSWER IS "YOU DON'T NEED TO DO WHAT YOU'RE ASKING TO DO". PICK SOMETHING ELSE...I KNOW WE WILL BE AT NEXT RENEWAL.

  This guy totally screwed up my payroll and he did it intentionally because he is a nutcase and rude. As long as you do not need to ask anything it was ok but his software is inferior and you would be better doing payroll manually then ending up with the mess he left me

  I do not know how this guy who seems to be the only one in the company stays in business NEVER AGAIN!!!! He needs a serious attitude change and it can't just be me because it seems someone else made that comment as well

• Easy to use and affordable

  Cheap and easy. And it does what it says it will do. No fuss, no thrills, not features you don't need. It is perfect for small businesses and non profits. You get a real live person when you call, who just happens to be the programmer.

  Cons

  While you DO get a real person, he IS the programmer. Some have bagged on the customer service. So he's not nice? He helps. But, yes, he's not super friendly.

  Summary

  If you need what this software does, just get it. It's a free trial, and you will be happy.

• Amateur Professional Can Even Use!

  I am not an accountant and am generally terrified of anything vaguely "technical". This program is so easy to use that even I could figure it out. For $65 dollars! But what really, really pleases me (as a woman of a certain age used to the good old days of real customer service) is the fact that I get a person on the phone when I call for a question or problem.

  Cons

  The person who answered the phone did not find me as amusing as I thought I was and didn't really want to spend a lot of time idly chatting with me. Also, his first question to me was "is your computer turned on", which *I* found hysterical (he didn't).

  Summary

  Nice to speak to a person, easy to use, even lawyers can figure it out!

  As mentioned in my summary, this software is simple, inexpensive, and it just plain works. When you call for support you actually get someone on the phone. Now, I read the other reviews and yes, he can be curt and may not be the most friendliest person but consider these three things: 1) When you call you get a live person 2) That person is either the founder or the programmer 3) It's $65 a year For all of that I will easily put up with a terse support person for the rare times I need to call...cause, as I mentioned, it's easy to use and it works very well.   i've used medlin for 4 years, never had a problem until i upgraded to 4.6. the new version cannot read files created with the old version except for the clients i ran during the beta testing [payroll client only, they do all their GL in another software] software support was RUDE NASTY and CONDESCENDING. i am DONE! "What makes you think 4.5 stopped working? Our offer was to order and begin using 4.6 early, it was not telling you 4.5 was no longer going to work. You have a serious misunderstanding which prompted you to make a wildly incorrect assumption."

  Summary

  maybe i'll upgrade to QB. or howell. or another shareware. or use medlin only to print checks [still not a bad deal at $65/year]
