Mean and Median Medals

This educational program allows a student to choose any number of items from a list representing a population, using a graphical user interface. The student presses a button add those selected items are added to another list representing a sample. The software draws the histogram for the sample, calculates the sample mean (average) and median and labels the histogram with those values. The student can then experiment to see how the mean and median are affected by extreme values and can use that insight to select the best measure of central tendency for interpreting different data sets.
