Publisher's Description
From Torch Soft:
Malware Defender is a HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) with firewall. It is effective to protect your computer system from all forms of malware (viruses, worms, trojans, adware, spyware, keyloggers, rootkits). Malware Defender is also an advanced rootkit detector. It provides many useful tools that can be used to detect and remove already installed malware. Added support for adding child application rules, driver rules, hook module rules, file rules and registry rules to member of application group, added an option to allow running user specified applications if no explicit 'deny' rule is found, added a new choice of rule object to the Alert dialog and other improvements.

"HIPS and FW plus Process Explorer"
Version: Malware Defender 2.7
Pros
Interesting, apparently very complete information: kernel, network, autostart list/editor, registry editor, hooks with search/edit/ and undo and its own Process Explorer. Perfect for nerds. It found refs to .sys files from a keylogger that many other anti-malware pgms missed (the files themselves were gone). All shows clean in scans by others.
Cons
Sometimes hangs (do "help"!)and can't kill it easily: program seems complete but the installer/packaging isn't. Makes a randomly named (can diable this) .sys file that prevents some boot programs from running (e.g. autocheck), along with preventing boot shenanigans - not much of a problem if you know about it! (stop MD from running at boot and delete/rename the file - MD will list it under Kernel").
Although it was written by another company (IIRC), google "is 360.cn evil" !Summary
The only real downside is the 360.cn connection - maybe.
Installation and uninstallation were NO problem - you shouldn't run more than one program of this type at the same time.
