"I did not like this, so I uninstalled it immediately!"
Version: MainType 3.0
Pros
Don't have any thing good to say.
Cons
Most everything about this program I disliked.
Summary
Find another program even if you have to pay for it.
-
"A fabulous piece of software for designers."
Version: MainType 3.0
Pros
I love High-Logic's software. MainType is a utility for ordering and sorting font collections. It is very easy to use, has an intuitive interface, and is generally very efficient at what it does.
Cons
Arranging font groups doens't quite do what I expected.
Summary
High-Logic's type production products are among the best I have tried. Furthermore, it is very easy to get help from High-Logic when needed; they are an extremely friendly and approachable company. Their software, taken as a whole, integrate very well, and for the price they are both affordable and very powerful.

"Don't touch it if you're not a pro!"
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
It was loaded with features.
Cons
Probably not the fault of the product -- it's not for the beginner or intermediate user, in my judgment.
-
"Doesn't work well in Vista"
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
It worked for a while then, after I purchased, it stopped, it won't start even after repair, removal and reinstall. All other applications are functioning fine.
Cons
I purchased it.
Summary
if you're running Vista, may be Look elsewhere for other trials (as well), that's what I'm doing.

"Amazing Font Organizer!"
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
The best out there for organizing fonts. You can uninstall, reinstall, load and unload fonts, which is so useful when you have 1000s...& saves the uninstalled fonts in a folder of your choosing. You can process groups or individ. fonts quickly.
Cons
Be careful - groups menu can collapse to an undetectable point. I thought my groups were gone, so I called them & they were helpful. Even called me back(from Netherlands) to save me the LD. Did have to wait *2* days to get my regist. code! Not good!
Summary
It's really the best I've seen, especially with the customer service! I cannot believe how easy it is to work with my fonts.. and how fast it works without stalling out. Also, if you have to reformat ever, you can easily back up the various folders with your groups, uninstalled fonts etc.
I did not like waiting 2 days for my regist. code. It should be an immediate download. If they fix the undetectable collapse of groups (menus) and expediate the purchasing, I would say they're total genuises! All in all, they still deserve 5 stars! -
"The only one doing what you want it to"
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
I'm a graphic designer, using both Mac and PC in my work, and I want it any other way. This is certainly not intended as a PC-bashing comment, but font handling is the area where Windows always has come up short. It has simply been a lack of good software - no lack of software, but of GOOD font handling software. Even commercial products that exists on both platforms run less smoothly and causes more problems on windows. I cannot see the reason why?!
Well, not so much anymore. This is the first font handling software for Windows that I've used (and I think I've tried them all), that actually does what you want it to - without screwing up your operating system.
Cons
It takes a bit of getting used to, but that's no big problem. If I could wish for one thing, that would be a faster loading of fonts in groups. I have quite large font groups and when I choose one, it takes a while for it to load (not as in activating, but just listing them) all fonts in the list.

"Lots of features but chose X-Fonter instead."
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
Many useful features.
Cons
I've tried a number of trial font managers recently and narrowed it to X-Fonter and Main Type. They have very similar features but as I worked with both of them, I definitely felt more comfortable with X-Fonter's interface. Main Type's price also seems a little steep.

"One of the better ones!"
Version: MainType 2.1.1
Pros
I like it's ease of use. I've been using tons of trial font management software, & honestly, I haven't used one that I liked until I tried MainType. It's just super easy, & has lots of options. I downloaded the trial & within 30 minutes had all of my 2000 fonts organized, loaded/unloaded & categorized!! Now my computer runs so much faster with only 35 fonts loaded and my other favorites ready to be used at a click.
Cons
The price. Once trial is over, as much as I love this program, I still don't know if I'm going to be willing to fork over 49.00US for it. I mean it's great, but it's not worth that kind of money. I'd have no qualms paying 19.99. They should run a 19.99 promo; bet they'd sell a LOT.

"Impressively short learning curve."
Version: MainType 2.1
Pros
I was able to use MainType "right out of the box" and it only took a few minutes with the user manual to be able to do everything I wanted to do with the program.
