"Tried them all; this one is the keeper"

    August 14, 2014   |   By bunnybones

    Version: MailBell 2.53

    Pros

    Simplicity without sacrificing basic functions
    Easy GUI
    No glitches
    It really works!

    Cons

Cannot read HTML email (maybe coming later)

    Summary

I used PopPeeper for years until I started using Internet conference calls, and discovered that PopPeeper reads the inbound emails as an announcement, you cannot turn that feature off, and the developer is clueless as to how annoying this is when you're using VOIP on a conference call with a headset. Hence, out with the annoying, and I started using MailBell, and I've been pleased with it. The GUI is simple to use; the program is efficient; the email account setup was easy, and it just dang works. The program has some extra security features that can be turned off if desired. I can easily recommend MailBell because it works well, and it doesn't pretend to be an intrusive, annoying Executive Assistant that doesn't know when to shut up.

    "Reliable Mail Notification Program"

    July 31, 2011   |   By taterz53

    Version: MailBell 2.27

    Pros

Gives you a great preview of your email without actually have to open your email client.

    Cons

    None that I ever noticed

    Summary

Been using Mailbell since 2007 and still in use today. This is one of the few software progs that I actually wanted (and did) pay for. Tried the others...none are as good.

    "Brilliant program!"

    April 21, 2005   |   By Keight

    Version: MailBell 2.17

    Pros

I'm a heavy email user with no less than 12 email accounts and I needed an email checking program that did a good job of filtering spam and other bad emails. I must have gone through about 20 different programs before finding Mailbell and I'd have to say it is by far the best one out there that I've come across. It has full blacklist and whitelist support... you can also add whatever you want to the bad/good words list. It keeps each email account separate so if you have a lot of email accounts then its great for keeping everything organised. You can also send quick replies within the program. Its never crashed on me and I love it. Well worth more than the purchase price in my opinion.

"Best program I have found to preview e-mail on server"

    February 17, 2005   |   By sparkleclean

    Version: MailBell 2.13

    Pros

Each e-mail account is shown in the upper window and the e-mail for each account is shown in lower window, when clicked. Your e-mail is not lumped into one window as with other programs.

By marking unwanted e-mail, you can delete directly off the server, never downloading to your system. Has decent Spam filter, which can be user enhanced.

Latest ver is 2.16, which can be downloaded from their site.

    Cons

Double clicking Tray Icon launches your e-mail client. Must use Shift + Mouse Click or Right Click tray icon, then open window to view.
