From Magix Software:
Restore and perfect your audio recordings in no time using MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab. Easy operation, thematic sound settings, professional tools such as spectral display and high-quality effects make this software the top choice for achieving outstanding sound. Remove noise with a wide range of precise and effective presets. For instance, simply
select the condition your vinyl record is in, and the optimization runs all by itself thanks to 1-click solutions. You can now edit recordings from tapes, records and mobile devices as well as speech recordings in detail with the help of effects.
Documentation (Help files) useless. Some of the tools don't work well. Retarded plug-in facility. No highlighting.
The equalizer (graphic and parametric) can be used for cleaning, but many of the clean-up tools are rubbish. The dehisser introduces annoying swirling artifacts, and as soon as you start to cut into the hiss it will eat away at the opper-mids of the audio. That is truly rubbish. The rumble filter is nothing but a low-block filter, but you will find better control by using the graphic equaliser.
Earlier versions of this program (Magix Music Editor) allowed you to highlight sections in order to carry out local editing, but this has stupidly been removed from Audio Cleaning Lab. Now it relies on a 'drawing tool' to redraw the wave, but it's not only clumsy, but also incredibly inaccurate. When you think you've redrawn a high transient peak to match the adjacent waves, you will find, when you pull out from the close view that the transient still exists! It used to be so much better when it was possible to highlight and edit selected areas.
The plug-in section is abysmal in that it will only accept DirectX plugins, and even they won't work in real-time! And the Spectral Cleaner is a joke to, in that it's not real time either, and very clumsy to use. The instructions for it are abysmal. You will very likely give up even trying to use this pathetic sales-pitch gimmick.
Don't be fooled by new releases from Magix, because all they ever do is slightly re-arrange certain features (no improvements, no bug-fixes) in order to grab more of your money. And don't hold your breath waiting for any Customer Support either. The best you will get is some useless advice that will not work and then you'll be ignored. Complaints or pleading on their forum or Facebook will be quickly deleted too. A really terrible company with appalling business ethics. Try searching Google for complaints and see for yourself.
I give this program two stars because it is mediocre. Audacity is mediocre too and worse than this, but at least it's free. This is just a plain rip-off for its price and in no way a professional piece of software. Adobe Audition is better but much more expensive. If only they had the sense to produce a non-multitrack version at a lower price it would kill the Magix rip-off junk.
Complex audio adjustments are made simple via built-in wizards, easy to understand manual controls, and high-quality processing components. Great value considering the wide range of audio issues that can be resolved with this software.
Not necessarily a "con", but audio novices might need to spend some time learning the manual/custom aspects of the software. That said, newbies can rest assured that the wizard driven and automated features of the software require only basic knowledge.
I've been using various versions of this program for quite a while. It's always been good but 9ver the past few years, major version upgrades (which you must pay for) haven't brought much in the way of new features/capabilities to the table. In reading the promotional info on the latest edition (V. 18, aka; "MX") I had the initial impression that "MX" would be more of the same. Well, I'm happy to say that the new features of MX actually ARE worth the price of an upgrade or new purchase. The new presets are well thought-out, useful and effective. The many automated wizards HAVE been significantly improved and auto-analysis and subsequent application of processing is better than ever. Alos, there have been some positive changes to the user-interface, not so much on the main screen, but on the effects rack and manual adjustment UI. Most importantly, you don't need to know much about professional audio to get great results. Even intermediate users like myself can definitely benefit from the streamlined processing scripts. This is really a winner and I would urge anyone who needs more control over their audio files to give the trial version a test drive. The download version can be found for less than $40 from a few authorized distributors so be sure to take a look for discounts before purchasing.
Three NEW features allow users to use 'presets' to begin any task, select audio distortions graphically and remove them, and a one-click project layout which is accessible from any interface screen. The improved features over past products include..... - Easier to use effects (equalizer, etc.) - Information box with more tips and tricks - More available presets(StereoFX, etc. - Overview Track for a more detailed and greatly more effective workflow.
The graphical interface combines user friendliness and important information for the program user. The sound quality is flawless for a program this inexpensive. MAGIX has really stepped up to the plate and has hit a 'HOME RUN' with this update to an already great product. I am very pleased with the opening screen labeled 'What would you like to do?' There are four 'presets'. The best part is that you can change the presets to apply to your own editing needs including last project, and tutorials and demos.
Honestly, I have not found any problems or issues yet with this program. The only thing I might say here is just remember to use the 'Help' file to download additional updates, activate additional functions and download tutorials, etc. so that you do not run into any 'error' messages. I have found with any MAGIX product that most of the related 'error' messages were due to the user not reading the help files or not downloading updates, etc.
Wow.....all of this at a price you can afford. Power to edit the most difficult audio files and the graphical interface to assist you with the most difficult tasks, MAGIX has really stepped up on this one. It is a MUST BUY for anyone wanting a professional audio editing program at a very affordable price. It is truly in the league of higher priced professional programs. I am truly amazed at the ease of use and very happy with the extensive online manual provided through the 'Help' tab . The manual is 185 pages of all the information you will need to produce audio files the way they should be. If you haven't already purchased this program, go to www.MAGIX.COM and get yours today. You will not regret it!
Spectral analysis, cleaning recordings of sound parasites, filtering, compression and mastering is excellent.
At this moment I have no critical comments!
I have the original version Audio Cleaning Lab / 10 Since then, the development program, brought much improvement. I have little experience with the version of the 16th. I look forward to any of my suggestions. Best regards, Marjan
ACLab10 was the 2nd release. It began simply Audio Cleaning Lab. I bought two copies. There were great features added to 10 that I have enjoyed to this day, particularly in the Mastering Rack. Now with two new Win7 systems, I look forward to trying 16. ACL & ACL10 only output wav files, which was fine. Maybe for a price Mp3 output could be added. Not sure without checking. WHAT I DO is put v10 on my notebook & use the headphone jack to play the audio through whatever system I'm going to listen with. Tone controls flatlined, I use v10 to tweak the sound & it's awesome... especially with 16" long-throw woofers. Every sysem is diff. I do the same with my pickup. 4-way speakers in the doors provide unbelievable super highs without ear damage when modified with 10. Outputting ACLab through the intended sound system means what you hear is what you'll get on playback of a CD, Mp3 or whatever. Every voice/instrument sounds as if on stage with them... provided original file isn't a dud.
I was able to recover priceless recordings that have been in my family for a while. Was able to share it with all of my friends and family. I was so happy to see these recordings saved and in a digital format.
- easy to use - high quality... - ...very cheap! - perfect workflow
i found nothing
audio cleaning lab has to do two things: cleaning audio and convert records! and that works perfect! even the old records from then are no problem for this tool! ok, i havn't many of them, but I have many new records for my hobby as a DJ and it feels good to know that the sound is safe and the vinyls only have to be used when they need to be: in the club!
