Together with its missing features it is pure horror. <br> Yes, support comes quickly, but due to the ignorant and arrogant authors its not more than self-praising spam, worthless. <p>&nbsp; <p> And yes, there are proper newsreaders around, so no one has to be frightend to be forced using this wrecked oldtimer. <p>

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />MacSoup may be getting a bit long in the tooth, but every time I try one of the young upstarts, I come back to it. Cons: setup is a bit of a hassle, and no support for binaries. Pros: this thing is lightning fast, because no cycles are wasted on unnecessary interface bells and whistles. Beautiful display of message threading. And all sorts of little touches that you miss instantly when you use another news reader. Groups are marked immediately if someone has followed up to your posting. Message age given in hours / days / et cetera. This is just the most satisfying newsreader I have ever come across.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />It may be a good program, but you appear to need a degree in Computer Sciences to get it running. I have tried 4 times over more than one year, gave up every time frustrated and have now finally deleted the program. The manual is confusing to say the least. E-Mail support comes rapid but doesn't help at all. I got HogWasher to work within two minutes, so it can't be my lack of intelligence :-)

Well, it is certainly difficult to get used to - but once you get the hang of it, I seriously doubt you will ever want to use something else. The mailer is different story, but there's no need to use it. The newsreader is certainly the best on any platform.

This program makes Usenet enjoyable again and puts HTML fourms to shame. This latest version adds some nice tweaks but I don't bother with it for email.

The NR is a bit better, but nothing one wants as result of a search for a proper and comfortable NR. The author ... OK I don't want to loose a word about his strange opinions. <p> <p> Hogwasher 4 will arrive in latest three weeks, watch out for it at asar.com, and you will find a proper combine application!

But once configured, nothing organizes the unwieldy usenet news world like MacSOUP. I don't know what all these one star reviewers are thinking!

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Not very refined and not easy to use. It seems as if this is something Microsoft would create. It requires you to step through many menu's with unclear and un-user friendly lingo. In addition, it runs a tad too slow for my tastes. Downloading from a news server took a bit longer than usual due to the fact that it downloads all data from a server. Threading needs a bit of help as does the windowing environment, mostly because of some of the useless screen space taken up. All in all, it just feels cluttered and complicated. I've used it for two weeks but feel that your best bet is to use Netscape Navigator if you want easy to use. Basically, avoid unless you know what you are doing.
