Version: MX vs. ATV Unleashed demo
Pros: Detailed physics and graphics. Vehicles include MX bikes, ATV's, monster & trophy trucks, buggies and sandrails - even helicopters and airplanes(crippled and not much fun). Track editor included.
Cons: This is pretty much a direct port from the console game and has a lot of "features" that PC gamers (at least this one), don't appreciate - like having to unlock most of the tracks, vehicles, etc. Luckily, the cheat codes are widely available by now and are the same codes used in the console version.
BUT - the game has serious flaws in terms of controller response, noticable delays in gameplay due to graphics/controller issues, serious flaws in the Profile handling that can and will destroy profiles if User-created tracks are used, and a Track Editor that offers a nice user interface but doesn't allow the use of user-created objects and worse, requires twice as much Video RAM (64mb) as the game!
I like the game's potential and hope that THQ/Rainbow issues a much-anticipated patch SOON, but for now I'm sticking with my 6-year old Motocross Madness 2, which offers, at least for now, a lot more fun and stability along with a Track Editor that has been greatly enhanced by the MCM2 user community.
Rainbow and THQ should have dumped the gimmicks (like planes and copters)and the majority of console-based "features" and issued a worthy successor to Motocross Madness 2 instead of this lukewarm port.
