LogMeIn lets you connect remotely to your desktop computer to access documents and carry out a variety of other tasks no matter where you are. To use this program, you have to install the companion app on your PC or Mac, and you can purchase subscriptions for multiple computers if you choose.
Remote functionality: This app makes it possible to work on your home computer no matter where you are. As long as that computer is on, you can see the desktop on your iOS device, and open programs, print documents, and access files, all with a few taps. There are tons of ways this feature can come in handy, and it's a great way to show someone what you're doing on your machine without their having to sit in front of it when you're collaborating on a project. It also gives you access to programs on your mobile device that you can only run on your computer.
Clear instructions: The instructions for setting up and using this app are clear and correct, with step-by-step guides walking you through the process of setting up the program on both your iOS device and your computer. Once you have everything installed, devices immediately recognize one another, and you can access them quickly just by entering the log-in information for that particular device.
iPhone limitations: This program runs well on both the iPhone and iPad, but the iPhone does have the screen-size limitation. The iPad works well for everything, though, and gives you a large enough space to view your options clearly.
Interface adjustments: The controls do take a little getting used to. Calling up the keyboard and operating the virtual mouse are less than intuitive. But you'll get the hang of it after not too long.
LogMeIn offers excellent functionality and a really convenient service. With the freedom it gives you, you never have to worry about transferring files ahead of time or forgetting to perform some important task. The app itself is free, although to use it, you have to install the companion app for the computer or computers you want to control as well. This is available for free for 14 days, and if you'd like to continue using the program beyond that trial period, there are a range of subscription plan options starting at $79/year for two computers.
