Publisher's description of Knights and Merchants demo
After many battles, a former kingdom has been divided into many small principalities and earldoms. The king's troops were pushed back into one last royal province, and the rulers of the other provinces waged terrible, destructive wars against one another. The whole land fell into a state of chaos, and now the former royal capital itself is under siege by the armies of the rebel lords. You belong to the last remaining group of loyal king's men, and have been commanded to go to the king in view of the imminent attack. It's up to you to win back all those provinces that once belonged to your king. Knights and Merchants can be described as a strategic economy simulation, as economics play a major role in this real-time action game. The products you manufacture and the resources you gain will be used for the military purpose of recapturing the lost provinces.

"The best micromanagement game in the 20th century"
Pros: the game was the first that put gamers that wanted to to create giant economies and manage the WHOLE empire by themselves to the test, thats right you have to manage the WHOLE empire of yours. you ushually start with a storehouse and some good to make your first buildings, you build a school to create new villagers, then a inn to make people eat so they will not die and now....... you have to manage to feed armies and towns not to starve and is long and recommended to the hardcore micromanagement guru
Cons: probably only pros of micromanadgement will enjoy this
