  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Being a fan of physical puzzles I was skeptical about doing them on the computer as previous implementations I'd seen were pretty much a joke. I underestimated, however, the satisfaction I derive from being able to use my own images as puzzles. A puzzle is only fun for me if I like the picture, and I don't like the pictures used in many commercial physical puzzles. Whether it's a photo I've taken myself, my own original artwork, or just a piece of art or photo that I love, it makes all the difference for me to be able to choose a custom image. Another benefit is that I have four very affectionate cats at home so I can only do physical puzzles when on vacation. JIXii works perfectly, has pretty much every feature you could ever want, especially when used with a utility to map piece rotation onto a mouse click or trackpad gesture. With my MacBook set at 1280x800 resolution I can only get 300-400 pieces, which doesn't seem like many but so far has been challenging enough. The only thing I can think of to add would be more varied piece shapes, but the shapes JIXii has already are way better than any puzzle software I've seen. I paid for this within hours of downloading it, and will pay for the iPhone version when it comes out (hint, hint...).

Simple and intuitive interface. I can't fathom how anyone could not appreciate the Swiss craftmanship presented here. There are no (absolutely no) speed concerns here. I sent in the shareware fee a day after I downloaded it, and as a Mac user since '84, that's saying something, I guess. I wish it could have run on my 128K. Well done!

With the latest release this is implemented and wonderfully so. Author is great with keeping registered users posted on development - definitely worth the very reasonable price.

The rotating of pieces work well and is easily accessed using the keyboard. I'm new to this app, so I'm not sure if it's possible, but it would be nice to black out the background. The transparent and overlay effects are nice, but distracting at times.
