Jaikoz for Mac

Publisher's Description

From JThink:

Are you frustrated by missing information in your audio files? This is known as metadata and is stored in a Tag. The Jaikoz Audio Tag Editor is a powerful yet simple to use tool that allows you to organize, edit and correct thousands of these tags with ease.

Jaikoz uses MusicBrainz, an online database of over 6 million songs. Many of these songs also have an Acoustic Id provided by MusicIP, allowing a song to be identified by the actual music, so it can do a match even if you have no metadata! These feature means that Jaikoz gives you the flexibility to lookup your songs by both the acoustic id and the metadata making Jaikoz a very accurate tool. But no identification system is 100% accurate so we have made it as quick and easy as possible to edit your data manually as well using a convenient spreadsheet view, with many autoformatting features.

What's new in this version:

  • Show User on title bar.
  • SQLException:Connections could not be aquired from underlying database error.

"Works great! I use it to complement iTunes."

    October 2, 2010  |   By sensei steve

    Version: Jaikoz 3.7.1

    Pros

Very simple to use. Finds information iTunes doesn't. I paid for my version and I received timely email support from Paul Taylor.

    Cons

I wish the product was documented better. I sense that the product can do so much more then what I am getting from it.

    Summary

I am very satisfied with the qualily of the product and the support and updates I get from the company. My only frustration is my fear that the product can do so much more then I am doing with it.

    "Absolutely Stellar"

    May 14, 2010  |   By groundlevel2

    Version: Jaikoz 3.5.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is by far the best tagger I've ever used. It was able to plow it's way through hundreds of my badly tagged mp3's, even a bunch in foreign languages, and get just about all them perfect -- even down to the album art and the lyrics. Amazing.

"If it works for me, it'll work for you."

    April 1, 2010  |   By s.price

    Version: Jaikoz 3.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'll be upfront; I have 149,648 music tracks in iTunes at the moment. (I'm one of *those* people.) I don't have the time or energy to go through one track at a time, or even an album at a time, and manage my music. Finding a program I can load my collection into is even a bit epic. So I use Jaikoz to do it for me. I can think of features that I would like, and the interface isn't the best, but it is the best program I've found for managing my music.

With one click, it is set up to label unlabeled tracks, delete any duplicates, add missing information, hunt down lyrics & album art, and generally make my collection shine. I use the log files to root out any corrupted music files for me to delete.

With so many music files from so many sources, you can guess it's like a minefield for a program to process. I'm pleased to report that Jaikoz handles most of my files fine, and when it chokes I've worked with the developer to fix the bug. And Paul makes new releases regularly.

So, in summary, Jaikoz isn't a perfect program, but it's best-in-class.

    "The Best of all Taggers"

    April 1, 2010  |   By ray_white

    Version: Jaikoz 3.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
OK, you can criticise this for being a tad 'un-Mac-like' but it does more than any tagger (and I challenge anyone to even approach all of its options). All in all, a stupendous piece of work!

    "How about an interface?"

    April 1, 2010  |   By psommariva

    Version: Jaikoz 3.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This application is quite impressive by what it can do - that is if you invest enough time to figure out HOW to do it.

My first try resulted in destroying a good 1000 songs. Good I keep multiple backups and could enjoy the rest of my evening restoring iTunes.

It has by far the worst interface I have ever seen on a Mac, and that's since my MacPlus. Clearly the author has never bothered to open the user interface books by Apple.

    "excellent product and great support"

    February 12, 2010  |   By rhoward1--2008

    Version: Jaikoz 3.4.4

    Pros

Did a great job of helping me go through audio files to find missing titles, cover art & helped me de-dup a large library. I ran into a problem upgrading & tech support was fantastic in helping me resolve me issue.

    Cons

Not a con with Jaikoz, but you have to verify occasionally to make sure the reference databases get the right song, & the album art sometimes defaults to compilation (eg "NOW that's what I call music" rather than the original cd the thing came from).

    Summary

I like the product a lot, but the great support was what prompted me to actually write a review.

"I would HIGHLY recommend this software!"

    November 20, 2009  |   By CanaMacUser

    Version: Jaikoz 3.3.4

    Pros

This software made organizing my itunes go from a tedious task to a simple one!
Everything from track title to how you would like to see the title appear can be edited! This software is far better than any free download out there.

    Cons

The process of correcting your library could be quite lengthy depending on how big your library is.

    Summary

Jaikoz is fantastic, every person with a large itunes library should have this software at their finger yips!

    "Slooooooow"

    November 5, 2009  |   By scalvin

    Version: Jaikoz 3.3.4

    Pros

    Everything it does is great.

    Cons

It does everything it does so slow. I have over 8000 mp3 songs, this program can run through about 15 an hour. Also, I think its written in Java.

    Summary

Too slow to use, but no good alternative if you need a thorough autotagger.

"Good solution to correcting lots of meta data"

    July 13, 2007  |   By internettools

    Version: Jaikoz 1.10

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If you have songs with missing or incorrect meta data on your Macintosh, Jaikoz is well worth your time and money. There is no other program available on the Mac that provides all the capabilities of Jaikoz.

If some of your meta data is correct, you can easily transfer the correct portions to other songs that have problems. The color coding scheme showing what data has changed is very useful, and allows you to easily verify the updates before you save them to your hard disk.

Jaikoz integrates with MusicBrainz, giving you a chance to capture a lot of meta data starting with just the music, by matching up the song and grabbing the meta data from MusicBrainz.

Jaikoz can grab album artwork and song lyrics from the Internet, for all of your music, with one command, and store the data inside your MP3 file.

Jaikoz has extensive documentation explaining each of the features available, and suggesting sequences of operations to perform for best results.

The author is extremely helpful with support, and releases new versions with new features on a monthly or better basis.

The downside to this program is that it's written in Java, and does not have the good looking, fun to use interface that Mac Cocoa programs have. Although an MP3 tagger program is not something I use on a daily basis, so I'm willing to live with this.
