"Leaves MacJDic 1.3.4 or KanjiWorks 1.5 Extened in the Dark Ages"
Version: JEDict 3.8
Pros
After working for years with MacJDict 1.3.4 in Classic mode, JEDict 3.8 running on Mac OS 10.3.8 is a thousand fold pleasure. Now I have no further use for Mac Classic. JEDict is very easy to use and the tabbed interface brings everything to the forefront instantly. The notepad is indispensible, allowing the user to select, cut and paste English or Japanese text -- anything in the text fields. The SHOW puldown menu has many, many further helpful screens as well, including verb inflections 1-6 grade characters (by grade) and others. Installed dictionaries seem to be kanjidic AND edict automatically, so no longer the need for time consuming dictionary builds. Find that I do not have to use KanjiWorks Extended 1.5 any longer either.
I am more than VERY VERY happy to have found this super gem to help me with my Japanese. The JDict Help is detailed and lets you know all you need to know.
Cons
Haven't found any yet. There are some minor objections I've noticed, but feel certain that when use it more and more, learning the tweeks and details, all of those minor irritations will be forgotten. This is a great piece of VERY helpful software.
