Intego Washing Machine 2014 for Mac helps you reclaim space on your computer by deleting duplicate and unused files. Through the app's intuitive interface, you can quickly access all features and have your computer running more smoothly in no time.
Three functions: To help you free up as much memory as possible and stay organized, this app completes three separate but complementary functions. It scans for unused or obsolete files that can be deleted, it identifies duplicate files, and it lets you manage your desktop, so you can be sure all files are in the proper place.
Clear interface: The first time you use it, the app walks you through the scanning process and identifies key items on the interface that will be helpful as you work through the program. And because the interface is so well laid out, users of all experience levels will have no trouble finding their way around.
Duplicate analysis: In order to find duplicate files, this app uses a bit-by-bit analysis process. This method produces much more accurate results than the method used by many other programs of using date and time stamp analysis, and file description.
Limited trial function: The trial version of this app can only complete the preliminary steps of each function. You get to see what each phase of the scanning process looks like, but to get any real functionality out of the program, you'll have to pay $29.99 for an unrestricted license.
Intego Washing Machine 2014 for Mac is a smooth and powerful program that effectively streamlines the process of identifying and removing unnecessary files from your computer. It's definitely worth checking out even if you think your machine is pretty well organized. You may be surprised by what the scans turn up.

Intego Washing Machine X9 makes it easy to get rid of the junk that's making your Mac slow--duplicate files and old programs you never use. Plus, it enables you to automatically organize things so both you and your Mac operate more efficiently. Washing Machine X9 performs the following tasks Reclaims Space - Seeks out files the user no longer uses or needs and quickly cleans them from their machine, freeing up gigabytes of space and increasing Mac performance. These files include downloads, caches, logs and trash. Finds Duplicates - Identifies duplicate files by analyzing the bits, and lets the user select which versions to remove. Other Mac cleaners find duplicates by using basic techniques that fail to identify all duplicates. Creates Smart Folders - A powerful OS tool, Smart Folders offer quick access to frequently used files and applications. Smart Folders can be added to finder favorites. Shows what apps are used the most (or least) and allows the user to quickly drag the apps to or from the dock. Cleans up Desktop Files - Moves files on the desktop to the appropriate finder folders or the trash.
What's new in this version:
An updated interface making X9 the easiest-to-use series yet
Faster scanning and greater performance for a weightless, light-footprint on the Mac
Incompatible with the Mac OS Yosemite. Poor customer service.
I downloaded this software since I saw it had both good customer reviews and a good review from the editors. My 2009 MacBook Pro is pretty darn slow and can definitely use a deep scrubbing of the hard drives. So, I downloaded Washing Machine and gave it a shot. Before it even cleaned anything, it required a purchase. Since presumably purchasing the item would help me clean up around 42 gigs, I thought, "Why not?" I want to support independent developers out there.
I purchased Washing Machine and they sent me a serial code to register their product so I could continue with the clean up. Instead of registering, I received an error code: "The serial number you entered is not valid for the product you're trying to activate. Please enter a valid serial number."
I immediately took a screen shot and fired off an e-mail to support. The next day I received a response e-mail asking what my OS was, etc., etc. I replied and the next day AFTER THAT I received a link to download Washing Machine again (I assume a version that is compatible with Yosemite). I did so and tried to register Washing Machine again... still no go and still got the message re: serial number.
I e-mailed customer support and asked about the serial number. They gave me the SAME ONE. This is now nearing the fourth day since I purchased this product and have been unable to use it. I am not sure if I will get a workable serial number or refund, but I have to say the trust is gone and the slow response from customer support is disheartening. I wish I had purchased a product from another developer.
I bought their bundle and most the products are crap. It makes you install a completely different software just to receive updates. When it is scanning it takes up all my resources and crashes all the time. For the money I would not buy this. I didn't know about AVG until after I purchased it and it is free. So far no issue with AVG. The firewall is horrible, and Family Protector is 100% useless.
They just released a new version that finds dups way faster and allows me to target the system at specific directories. Also seemed to add a shredder for deletions. Using it slows down the deletion process, price you pay for more secure deletes.
Still no cookie management. Maybe next release?
Very slick product made even better. Keep adding stuff!
After many weeks of research and looking at many tools that don't really work , i' found this very important peace of equipment , it cleans my catch and system , run this sometimes twice a day , it truly works for my system running the latest on the Mac word with all the tweaks need it to run faster , and also running antivirus contrary to how others may said , this tools keep my Mac clean and lean fast machine , not slowing down here , a good pice of technology .
I have tried looking everywhere but there does not seem to be any control of Cookies in Safari.
It works good. What more can I say? It does what it says it does. Very easy to use also.
Very easy to use, slick interface. First time I used it it cleaned up about 4 gig of junk. I am still working through all my duplicates.
Love the dock organizer.
Find dups is a little slow.
Worth the 29 bucks.

Ran Washingmachine against two other duplicate file finders. Washingmachine seems to be finding duplicate files the other two aren't. Not sure what the difference is but the additional dups are actually duplicates. Could explain why it takes longer.
