HitmanPro 3 (64-bit) doesn't claim to be the primary solution for your PC security needs, but it does add another layer of malware protection and what the publishers describe as a "second opinion" to see if your computer is infected and help you remove any unwanted files.
Plays nicely with others: HitmanPro 3 doesn't need to be installed to work but even when we opted for installation, there were no issues with our current antivirus program.
Quick scans: The initial scan took less than three minutes, and even though it will vary from PC to PC, that's a quick turnaround.
Settings: As soon as you open HitmanPro, there's a Next button, which immediately starts the scan. You'll have to change any default settings you don't want before you hit that button because there's no way to alter any settings once it initiates the scan. It's not a big drawback, but some software allows you to decide whether to automatically upload files to the cloud or scan your computer every day at startup before initiating the first scan.
There's nothing wrong with checking up on your antivirus software, and HitmanPro makes an easy job of it. You'll have 30 days to evaluate the software with full functionality (scan and remove), and then it only allows you to scan.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of HitmanPro 3 (64-bit) 188.8.131.52.
HitmanPro 3 (64-bit) is a second opinion scanner, designed to rescue your computer from malware (viruses, spyware, and rootkits.) that have infected your computer despite all the security measures you have taken (such as anti virus software and firewalls.). Just relying on a single vendor is not sufficient to completely protect you. You do need a second source to make sure you are secure. HitmanPro 3 (64-bit) is designed to work alongside existing security programs without any conflicts. It scans the computer quickly (less than 5 minutes) and does not slow down the computer (except for the few minutes it is scanning). HitmanPro 3 (64-bit) does not need to be installed. It can be run straight from a USB flash drive, a CD or DVD, local or network attached hard drive.
What's new in this version:
IMPROVED: Detection and removal for Kovter fileless malware.
FIXED: Detection of Cookies for Internet Explorer and Edge.
Conflicts with malwarebytes and Firefox and no support portal or contact method...AVOID
I purchase hitman pro premium and got hitman pro alert...these packages worked well for a time.
THEN Alert started to stop office 2013 products opening, I was advised to configure a workaround. Them Hitman Pro start conflcting with Malwarebytes, and neither party could agree to a resolution or path to it.
NOW I am advised hitman alert 3 (and previously Pro) is causing crashes in Firefox.
Sufright have no support contact, and email sent to address was using prior to take over by Sophos remain unanswered...Sophos themselves wont answer/acknowledge or reply.
Sufright & Sophos have been blacklisted as widely as I could
Great initial idea, poorly executed and developed.
Must be better and more reliable and contactible out there
we all know it's a solid program but terrible customer support
terrible customer support
when i had an issue after purchasing premium it took a week for any response...the tech was rude and did not resolve the issue at all...i continued to follow up via email and got no response at all....i did not find any other way to contact them so if you need a refund or help you are out of luck...i would not purchase this or hitmanpro.alert because issues will not be resolved
So thrilled with hitman- I downloaded a dodgy exe file and got infected. Along with malwarebytes and a quick system restore, this did the trick rightly. Best emergency antivirus available. Thanks hitman!
Catches and deletes all of the tougher viruses that all the other scanners were not able to get rid of.
I'm sure there are cons out there, but I didn't use it at length to find any, it deleted the PITA spyware, so what more can you ask for!
I only use this to ensure I get rid of everything. I did a preboot scan with my AV and used other scanners in safe mode none of which were able to eradicate the more difficult trojans. It's my go to software when nothing else works.
Pros ?!! The only Pros I can think of is not using it.
It took a couple of minutes to do a fall system scan and I have no idea what is scanned for in such a short time. It found many false positives including reputable programs.
The first system backup went well but when I run it again for a second test and tried a second backup it failed. I checked to realise system backup/restore developed an error which also deleted all my backup points.
It's a dangerous program to have. But if you are still curious and want to try it for yourself make sure you have a system image backup ready, and remember that Curiosity killed the Cat.
Absolutely like no other anti-virus. Microsoft Security Essentials allowed 571 (including MANY Trojans) to enter my daughter's PC and their scan along with McAfee and others showed no viruses present. HitmanPro detected them upon first scan and after three back to back scans (about an hour) her heavily bugged PC was clean. I paid $24.99 for a year of Hitman and it is totally worth it!!
Customer support is slow or none to respond.
Best anti-virus I have ever used, catches bugs other cannot,, disposes of them easily and is totally worth the $25!! Scans extremely fast after PC is clean!!
