You know a game of hangman will end violently when you choose letters with your gun. Hangman The Wild West II follows a gunslinger named Billy who must save townspeople and kill bandits. In the Billy's Adventure mode, you solve the word puzzles in a saloon under the gaze of barflies, while a hangman builds a scaffold outside. You have six bullets to waste on wrong letters, after which you get hanged. If you meet the goals, you fight a reflex-based shoot-out with the bad guy. Dead or Alive is a sudden-death mode, where you identify letters missing from nearly complete words. If you type in one wrong letter, a bandit shoots you in the head. If you win, you shoot him.
The vocabulary is sophisticated, and you can mix it up further by choosing a topic area such as States. You can mute the music and sound effects separately and play in full-screen or window modes. The game is full of promotional screens selling the registered version, and it takes three clicks to actually exit. Though it's too violent for young children, Hangman The Wild West II packs a lot of fun.
Hangman The Wild West II is a new twist on the popular hangman game. Cool features not available in standard hangman games include fighting bandits and a little mouse, a lucky horseshoe, and dynamite, which will help you solve the game. You're in the old West. You can see through the window of the executioner's building the scaffold for you if you fail to guess the hidden word and run out of bullets. The scaffold scene is in real-time (day or night). The four modes are Billy's Adventure, Dead or Alive, General, and Topic.
Occasionally, while you're playing, a bandit will come to attack you for your money and name. Three types of bandits (Jim, Cato, and Jack) have different specialties. You can use the special items to help solve the game. The little mouse helps you reveal part of the word by dropping one bottle. The lucky horseshoe brings luck in Billy's Adventure so you can make multiple shots without missing any bullets. Dynamite helps you win easily by destroying all the bottles at once. In the General and Topic modes, you can play with general words or use the preloaded word topics, Educational and Entertainment. Additional topics are available for download. A Knowledge Bar at the bottom of the game will give you information about the words. You also can create your own topics and upload them for other players. This game has original Western music and is playable in six languages: English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. High-score records for each game mode are available.
