HTTP Explorer

CNET Editors' note: 30-day trial, nag screens, proxy mode is disabled.

Publisher's Description

From Overture Computing:

Used to examine unaltered http requests and responses intercepted with and without proxy. There are several views for the data. Raw view shows the data in bytes. Text view shows the headers in the request and response as well as the http payload. The list of requests and responses are also available in two different views. One view shows the summary of the request. The other view shows the actual sends and receives performed by the browser. It is possible to search through the request urls to look for a particular url using regular expression syntax. httpExplorer works by intercepting the client/server data stream of the embeded browser. It can also work in proxy mode where the data is intercepted by emulating a proxy server. New features include total response times, color coded background colors based on the http response codes, and the new XP style menu. Serveral known bugs have been exterminated.

    Version: HTTP Explorer 2.1a

    Summary

As a web developer I have always wanted a comprehensive and professional tool to view HTTP request and response headers. HTTP Explorer does this and in style as it integrates Internet Explorer into the program so its as simple to use as a web browser!!! A must download for serious web developers.

    "works well"

    August 15, 2002  |

    Version: HTTP Explorer 2.1a

    Summary

I've recently purchased this product to debug http requests/responses. I'm a developer and there are some problems that just cannot be fixed without seeing the HTTP commands in their raw form.

This product is an excellent utility and an essential tool for any web developer. The installation is simple and painless, and it automatically detects your browser settings so there is nothing to configure. Just start it up, point and click on the details of the request/response you want to see. All the essential HTTP information is efficiently organized and displayed. It's power, feature set, and ease of use make it quite an elegant product. I recommend it highly!
