  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />We decided to go for Konica Minolta´s C 252 and then you see how poor the quality of HP´s Officejets really is. We will not go anymore for HP products, and use the four Officejets as good as possible. At least the repaired OfficeJet G95 is doing its work for sending faxes. Our Apple computers are receiving faxes, which really works great. The 3 OfficeJets D 7140 ix are really terrible compared with the Konica Minolta. Of course they are much cheaper as well.

We signed a three year´s guarantee contract of about 40, �uros per machine and that means HP will replace our damaged/not working machines free of costs. The hardware is quite bad to be honest, and that when finally the software is working. Not perfectly well, however, far better than ever before.

  ...free!<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Well, I don't know about Philip, but it has been literally YEARS for me, and HP has NOT solved the basic problems that have plagued their driver for this device for, again, YEARS. These include the failure to support fast user account switching, the failure to retain duplex settings when saving a configuration in the print dialog; and endless poblems with the ethernet connection (I finally gave up and resorted to USB, which has limited me to use of the device on my local network, but preculded remote access). I have been waiting in pain for liberation... for another manufacturer to produce a multifunction device that matches the HP D-Series admittedly admirable list of hardware features (duplex printer/copier + scanner + fax with auto doc feeder). Finally, Canon has come out with the Pixma MP830. I just bought and installed this. It works like a charm, right out of the box. Have put it through its paces, and it does everything that years of HP of software engineering was incapalbe of doing (or maybe they didn't ever really try... not sure which is worse). ALL HAIL CANON!! I can't tell you how happy I am to finally be free of the shackles of HP's feeble Mac support. I recommend others follows suit.   This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />After five months of use and that on three 7140 ix all in ones, we can now say that HP and Apple finally (!!!) made it all work. We are scanning hundreds of pages a day. Printing goes very well also, and faxing goes okay as well. Also our older G95 is now working on a G4/upgraded Sonnet 1Ghz computer with Tiger 10.4.5. Thanks Hp and thanks Apple! Yes, what I must add: better use USB rather than Ethernet connections.

Thankfully, this one is only in use at home. If it was in a real office, as the name "Officejet" suggests, it would be unacceptable. 9 full colour pages took four hours to print.</p> <p>The software has good features, and good control over the scanner, but it does not integrate with the OS as other drivers do. It requires supplementary programs and overheads, and binds up the USB port for other peripherals. This suggests a cobbled-together port from another OS, presumably Windows or earlier MacOS, and some cheats on the I/O. It's not good software.</p> <p>What prevents me chucking the d145 in the nearest skip is that it is a very good colour photocopier, which is what it spends most of its time doing, and its lethargy as a computer printer is tolerable when printing plain text e-mails. The lesson is that before buying anything else, I would want a demonstration on equipment similar to my own.</p>

LOST HOURS AND HOURS WITH STUPID SUPPORT BY HP : USUALLY I KNOW THEIR DEVICES BETTER THAN THEMâ?¦ PLUS : I HAD A 3 YEARS EXTENSION WARRANTY AND I WAS FORCED TO THREATEN HP AND TO CALL AND ENGINEER IN UK TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT DEVICE, WHICH IS A 7410. THIS NEW DEVICE WORKS AS BAD AS USUAL. MY ADVICE (WHICH IS THE ADVICE OF ANY SERIOUS RETAILER) : STAY AWAY FROM MULTI-FUNCTION DEVICES. STAN

No we are working with QuicKeys 3.0, QuickMail 3.5.1, 4D 2004.1 and so many other great software of the Mac OS 9 O.S. and all works great, and that all in Mac OS X 10.3.7 Panther. After a lot of suffering and after signing special service contracts with HP we now also have the three 7140 ix and one G95 "all in one" machines working. • Can't download with Safari

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I tried 4 times to download this update with Safari and it failed each time. Tried with IE (yuck), but it worked. Duplexing works too. Still very quirky though and multiple users cannot print (job hangs everytime). Overall, not a good experience. This will be my last HP printer I ever buy. My Epson Stylus 1280 works like a champ in every situation. Bye bye HP. I waited too long for this update, which is still half baked. Oh, I too had signed up for email notification and didn't receive one, fwiw. Man I wish Apple still made their own branded printers. My LW8500 still works like it's new.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I can't get either version of the D series drivers to connect to any of my D series printers on several Macs running Panther. HP email support told me to use Printer Setup instead of their setup utility, and when that did not work, they told me to call for support, and since the printers are out of warrenty, pay for it. I have to pay for their bugs? HP invents new ways to screw its customers. We will not be buying HP printers in the future. As we migrate into Panther, we will have to buy new printers.
