"great little program"
Version: HD Tune 2.55
Pros
Great program!
Cons
No cons that I can think of...
Summary
The SMART data was the most important feature to me - keeping track of a drive's reallocated sectors is very important. (If its more than 0, get ready to install a new one). Second most important: the Benchmark and the very quick Error Scan. And drive temperatures are good to know as well.

"This is an excellent tool to use in a pinch!!"
Version: HD Tune 2.55
Pros
Graphical interaction and user friendly.
Cons
I understand that testing and scanning a hard drive takes time, but maybe the time frame can be cut in half or even a third.
Summary
Great hard drive tester. I really enjoy using it. I recommend this product to anyone!

"Very useful HDD info utility"
Version: HD Tune 2.55
Pros
Shows SMART info from drive to diagnose potential problems. Scans HDD surface so you can visualise bad cluster on disk. Can benchmark drive throughput. Small file size.
Cons
When you have multiple drives, some screens use the drive ID without indicating the associated drive letter making it harder to identify drives, especially if you tend to favour certain makes.
Summary
It is one of those essential utilites to have around if you suspect that one of your HDDs may have a problem

"Nice little tool that does Hard drive health check"
Version: HD Tune 2.55
Pros
This is a nice little tool with a small footprint that will investigate all the relevant health details of a home PC drive.
Cons
Any product could always have more features but given that it is free it is very good value. As far as I can telll it has no nasties buried in it - I'm running Malwarebytes and AVG, so I would expect to know
Summary
This is a free utility with no restrictions at all . It's not a full-fledged diagnostic tool - for that you need its fully priced big brother - but it is a very nice free utility that will provide an accurate statement around the health of the drive. I used it to obtain a replacement drive under warranty from a slighttly reluctant retailer. The sector checking facility is particularly good as this will do both a sampling approach and every sector approach. It is not a tuning utility at alll in the free version, rather it is a health check and a pretty good one. I was not able to find its equivalent in a hour of googling (not to say it isn't there - but I could not find it)
