CNET Editors' note: PLEASE NOTE: Google Chrome for Mac OS X Developer Release is a very early release version and does not yet have some of the functionality that a full general release version would have. Many of the features still under development affect the privacy behavior of Google Chrome for Mac OS X.
Publisher's Description
From Google:
Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the Web faster, safer, and easier. Use one box for everything--type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and Web pages. Thumbnails of your top sites let you access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab. Desktop shortcuts allow you to launch your favorite Web apps straight from your desktop. The developer's build tests new features before they're pushed to the beta build, and so it should only be used by those who are willing to risk browsing data loss.
What's new in this version: All
- Updated V8 - 3.11.6.2
- Gamepad API prototype available by default.
- TLS 1.1 is enabled by default.
- Mouse Lock (Pointer Lock) no longer requires fullscreen. [r138150][r138944] Native Client applications can use this now, while the JavaScript API still requires enabling in about:flags.

"Works fine, look good, and is generally quite fast,"
Version: Google Chrome dev 19.0.1068.1
Pros
Works fine, look good, and is generally quite fast.
Cons
Takes a while to open, but then so so my other browsers Safari and Foxfire. Also, the eBay extension is not as good as the one for Firefox.
Summary
Works fine, look good, and is generally quite fast, I have had no specific problems with it.

"Still the same update problems!!"
Version: Google Chrome dev 15.0.874.12
Pros
Frequent updates
Cons
they don't care about OUR problems
Summary
Also Canary shares the same annoying 'error -11' update problems and... it remembers me at the good old time when Chrome seemed to contemn the Mac users!
-
"No automatic update ('server not available error 11')"
Version: Google Chrome dev 15.0.874.3
Pros
standing updates, fast evolution
Cons
The 'Update server not available error 11' is an ANCIENT problem faced by a multitude of users by ages!
There is a heap of solutions online that take time and skill and (what turns me crazy!)are needed again and again because the problem is recurringSummary
What the hell is waiting the fork of Chromium to solve this annoying problem?
If there is something necessary in a 'dev' version, it's just to have feedbacks on the LATEST version so... -

"Stable, fast and efficient"
Version: Google Chrome dev 10.0.648.45
Pros
Seems to be relatively stable. Rendering is fast and accurate. Seems to be quicker than Firefox or Safari.
Cons
.pdf files open in a new tab. No way to use Adobe Acrobat to open them instead. No way to save the .pdf file other than choosing Print > Save as PDF.
-

-
"Great responsive browser"
Version: Google Chrome dev 9.0.572.1
Pros
It's speeds is simply awesome
Cons
Nothing, nada, no cons
Summary
User friendly, fast browser, no security issues.
-
"Efficient and reliable."
Version: Google Chrome dev 7.0.517.13
Pros
Efficient and reliable. Consistent with the best of Chrome 6, faster yet.
Cons
Occasionally crashes.
Summary
Love it. Once Chrome 7 is fully functional, I will use it preferentially. Chrome beats the daylights out of everything except Mozilla's best, and Safari; chrome runs faster than either of the others.
-
"Sleek, very fast, but not fully functional; incomplete."
Version: Google Chrome dev 7.0.517.8
Pros
It's sleek and doesn't take up a lot of screen space (which Firefox does). It's very fast and user friendly.
Cons
It's not fully functional and complete. I can't upload photos to Facebook using Chrome. I can't watch certain online videos using Chrome. Certain websites don't work with Chrome. In short, it fails - not on minor technicalities, but on major ones.
Summary
I love Chrome. I've tried the past two or three releases and each one has failed on the same counts. I will keep trying newer versions because, if these items get fixed, it will certainly be (in my opinion) the absolute best browser in the world. Until that day comes, Safari rules.
