Pros
none whatsoever
Cons
This program loaded my PC with all kinds of crap software that I'm still trying to remove. I used to have a "gmail notifier" program that worked just fine till recently. I was looking for the updated version. This is not it, this just loads junk onto your PC.
Summary
This is not the program you want and it's not made by Google!

Pros
ABSOLUTELY NONE.
Cons
This is a fake. This is not the Gmail notifier. It will work for your gmail, but this was not made by GOOGLE at all. This will only get you spam and spy on you.
Summary
CNET Should delete this off there web site. Total crap. Thanks for letting install crap on my computer, when it's advertise a something else.
I remember when you didn't have to worry about downloading things from CNET, now you have to worry all the time. On top of it all, for users who are not that savvy, don't realize that you can install spam search engines like Conduit, if you click Express install.

abcdefghij
Cons
Whatever I do, I cannot get this Gmail Notifier to work on my Windows XP or the earlier version of Windows 7. A later version of Windows 7 works fine. A notice stating: "An error has occured. Cannot connect to your mailbox. Service temporarily unavailable." Really wish I could use this handy tool.

Same story with me as well. Running Windows 7. Constant error popup notice "Cannot connect to your mailbox. Service temporarily unavailable."
Pros
Does everything it says and I've installed it on all 8 of my office computers and laptops. I like the nice voice message that comes through telling me I "have received mail" especially when I'm not monitoring my email accounts or my employees email accounts, keeps accurate count of how many unread emails there are per address and let's me monitor more than one account and I have several gmail accounts. Best of all it is free!
Cons
I'm assuming being called gmailnotify that it probably only works with gmail. I wish it would handle yahoo, pop3, etc but they put it right in the name of what it does. This would be just a great add-on feature for me personally.
Summary
Love it! Works great, I've never seen it fail, no problem using it and it's very easy to add accounts and just let it run in the background. Thank you to the programmer who made this!

Pros
Very, Very Simple.
In a Very Unobtrusive Manner, it lets you know if there is a new email in your Gmail Inbox.
Cons
The Notification does not "Pop Up" -- so if you do not look at your system tray, you can easily miss a new email.
This program has not been updated in awhile.
In view of the Extreme basicness of this app, its RAM usage is excessive.
The program does Not let you select how often it checks for email--it simply Always checks every couple minutes.
Also, you will notice something peculiar about this developer: Nowhere on his website--nor on his blog--will you find ANY indication of who the developer is (No name--Nothing); that's a bit odd.
Summary
I've tried a couple other Gmail Notifiers but (for now) have settled on this very basic, no frills model.
I like it because it is simple and Extremely unobtrusive. It just sits there, & when an email arrives, the icon blinks.

Pros
None at all.
Cons
Not the real Gmail Notifier from Google, but they want you to believe it is.
Summary
This program is designed to mislead. The developers are clearly working really hard to hide the fact that this isn't the Google product that we're looking for, and I'm sure they successfully trick a lot of people into giving them their password.
I'm not sure if they necessary use the password for ill intent, but it's hard to trust developers who work so hard to hide the fact that indeed this is NOT Google software. Had they been honest about it up front, this could have possibly been viewed as a respectable alternative. F minus.

Pros
No sign anywhere that this is an individual's own product. I had to dig deep into the developer's website, which was hard to find, to figure out the truth, because even the website had prominent Google logos.
Cons
I just don't trust a program like this with my Gmail password, which would basically give him/her full access to my communications and other accounts. There's no sign they do anything with it, but they also make no effort to even admit the issue.
Summary
You may trust it. I don't. Someone who potentially can gain access to all of their users's accounts, email and otherwise, need to be upfront about it. I don't even this this should be on the site, given the extent of developer's efforts to hide the fact that this is an unofficial product at best.
