"Good if you know how to set up a SAN system."
Version: GlobalSAN iSCSI initiator 3
Previous to version 5, this was the best free iSCSI initiator for OSX.
It works with a wide range of targets, and is easy to configure.
The software does not train users on proper setup of an iSCSI environment. It is not as easy to set up as NAS, and there are important things to consider when using block-level access to storage.
There are also important things to keep in mind when exposing LUNs to an OSX workstation.
Version 5 is 50$ and supports Lion. If you are still on Snow Leopard, the free version can still be found and used.
Please do yourself a favor and read the SNS forums for GlobalSAN at http://www.snsforums.com/index.php?showforum=14.
As a final note, the iSCSI initiator has very little to do with connection speed. This should be obvious.
