"Really good, but requires too much computer"

March 17, 2011  |  By peterwesly

 |  Version: Not Found

Pros

Really good graphics, cars, realism, excitement - very engaging.

Cons

Completely freezes/destroys my computer.

Summary

Absolutely loved playing this game... the racing is super exciting, realistic, and engaging. At first all OK, but with more play it kept freezing my computer and could only exit using start button. Freezing got more consistent, and with each traumatic exit my computer crashed more quickly - even during other tasks - and became more and more unstable and difficult to start properly. Eventually spent many hours over three days having to rescue my computer - almost went out and bought a new computer because felt this one was beyond recovery, but kept trying recovery anyway. Now my computer is OK and I would love to play this game again. However it's just too dangerous for my computer! After reading other reviews it seems they were correct... your computer needs lots of power and a really good video card to play this... I'm not even going to download it again. Too scared that I'll get involved in it and next time it will completely destroy my computer.

"the gran turismo of the p.c"

June 24, 2007  |  By brianthesnail123

 |  Version: Not Found

Pros

were the playstation has gran-turismo we have gtr and finally gtr2,this is as close as it gets to real life driving on a computer

racing physics are excellent,if you crash then your out, unlike some racing sims were you have unreal damage, and the engine sounds are real samples from the actual car engines, this attention to detail has made gtr2 a winning race sim

as darkhavans said you need a top end system to run gtr2,i have a pentium 4 (hyper threaded),1.5gb ddr ram and a geforce 7600gt(256mb),and i managed to run this on high settings,it actually set my system to x2 antanilising by default but i disabled that

a crackin game and a must for any race sim fan

brilliant

"Hellz. Yesh."

August 20, 2006  |  By Darkhavans

 |  Version: Not Found

Pros

I am an extremist when it comes to racing simulators. And when I say Hellz Yesh. I mean it. This game pretty much owns in every way. Be warned though, you will need a kick ass PC to run this. And it will probably be more processor intensive with the full version. It ran fine on my Alienware Area-51 ALX However, what scared me was the fact that my ALX was upgraded, my friend said it ran slowly on his stock one... and thoose are some insane computers. So expect crappy performance unless you have a good PC.

Cons

Well, not much. Only thing was the requirements... it's not practical for a home user. Definetly for hardcore gamers.

"These games always kill my computer"

July 21, 2006  |  By josh817

 |  Version: Not Found

Pros

I have loved GTR and the resy but quite frankly I can't use them because this game freezes my computer! Great graphics and everything else but like I said, it frezzes my computer and I have to shut the computer down the WRONG way just to get out. This has made me iffy when it comes to buying, because I don't want to spend $50 on something that won't work.

Cons

I tried emailing Simbin about, but I'm guessing they're a bunch of European people who don't speak english so I never got a response back. My main problem is that when I played EVERY demo (GT Legends, GTR all 3 demos, GTR 2 demo) it will freeze up my computer in the menu. I don't know why this

happens but it gets on my nerves a ton. On the GTR demo #1 I restarted my computer so many times just to play the game, that eventually I started having "internal errors" from the hard drive arm slamming down on the hard drive when you turn it off the wrong way. Eventually, I had to reformat the computer because nothing would work. I don't know what to do at this point. Its such a great game but I get no replies from the company, and I haven't spent enough time yet to figure out why it does this. I just know that I refuse to spend $50 or $60, come home and install it, and then have it mess up on me. I'm not sure if its just the demo's that mess up my computer but I don't think I'm willing to spend that kind of money only to have problems, call up tech support and then have a tech crew who doesn't speak decent english to guide me through, that could just make the problem worse.

I am running a Radeon 9600 SE 128MB graphics card, so I'm not sure if it could be that or what. Any help would be great. If you own GTR and it gives you no problems then maybe you can assist me.
