CNET Editors' review
Even if you're not a RAM whiz, you can still easily free up RAM on your running system? By selecting AutoFree mode and then 'go,' FreeRAM XP Pro can automatically optimize your system, balancing levels between your memory cache and the computer's speed. Those with a little more RAM know-how can specify the amount they'd like freed in the program's extensive settings menu. Remember that attempting to free up more RAM than your system can handle will subsequently slow it down. Reporting options, a slew of memory monitoring tools, and the ability to place a preset of your memory settings to the desktop are reasons to try FreeRAM XP Pro.
Publisher's Description
From YourWare Solutions:
FreeRAM XP Pro includes automatic memory monitoring and optimization; advanced tray support; fast, threaded freeing with a stop option; multiple system-metric monitors; a simple and attractive GUI; memory reporting and diagnostic logging; and real-time memory information. FreeRAM XP Pro's AutoFree feature intelligently scales how much RAM is freed with your current system status, thus optimizing RAM without slowing down your computer. Additionally, FreeRAM XP Pro's unique Global Memory Compression technology frees memory instantly in a way that is completely unlike other memory managers. FreeRAM XP Pro has been designed to be easy to use yet highly customizable by computer novices and experts alike.
Version 1.52 enables Global Memory Compression by default for all memory freeing operations (this can be disabled through the Settings); adjusts AutoFree to be slightly more conservative when freeing RAM; and fixes a minor installation bug.

-
"Before having had it installed could never understand."
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
This program has an optical meter telling me what is happening and allowing me to restart before system "freezes". My older laptop does operate at slower speeds. Sometimes with OS having crashed due to incidents where the hard drive became overloaded due to operator unaware that the data being installed was not keeping up with what was order by the download manager.
Cons
Not aware of any at this present time.
Summary
Would only just like to say if you're having similar operator errors then get it soon.
-

"Good software program"
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
Is easy to work with and in most regards, works well.

I don't know what the problem is, but sometimes, when Freeram is finished optimizing, Tirefox freezes. Tried everything to figure it out, but no luck.
Summary
It does a good job of optimizing my ram.

"Ram Hog..."
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
None.............
Cons
Unless you turn off auto free your puter comes to a halt until it is done freeing. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes or more. I had this I uninstalled this. It uses so much resources. I think it's supposed to, so it has something to free.
Summary
you can not speed up a puter if it does not have the capability to do so. This program only frees RAM. Does not speed up a slow processor.

"Does the job for low-RAM systems"
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
Helps keep a system running when there isn't enough physical RAM installed.
Cons
Appears to be hard-coded to recognise a maximum of 2GB RAM.
Summary
I use FreeRAM XP Pro on both by desktop PC and the Windows BootCamp partition of my MacBook. The desktop PC only had 2GB of 533MHz RAM installed, I was experiencing performance issues, and it wasn't until I installed PC Monitor (to allow me to monitor my PC using my Android Phone) and I started receiving alerts & emails about the PC having less than 10% memory available at times that I realised this was an issue.
I have installed 4GB of 800MHz RAM in the PC and have already noticed a performance improvement. On the downside, FreeRAM XP Pro appears to only recognise 2GB of the 3.25GB of RAM recognised by Windows. On the plus side, 100% of that 2GB is available! :-)
The developer's website has a contact form page which is apparently under construction, and the news page hasn't been updated since 2007, so I do not know if the program is still being developed and/or likely to be updated anytime soon to recognise more than 2GB of RAM. If Yourware Solutions are reading this, please update your website and/or reply to this feedback on CNET. Thank you! -
"Unobstrusive and definitely works!"
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
Easy to load, no complicated running menus, concise instructions.
Cons
Freaked me out when it started running before my anti-virus program but that's how it works.
Summary
I up'd my RAM by adding Crucial's 4G (2Gx2 pcs) boards. I was unaware that my Dell Optiplex 740 was running on just 1G RAM, wow! Ready for the race track! Thanks to FreeRam XP Pro for filling in while the kit was in the mail!

"Did nothing as far as I can see."
Version: FreeRAM XP Pro 1.52
Pros
Easy to down load
Cons
Nothing changed. Same Ole Same Ole.
Summary
Lost my CD drive. Not sure if this was the reason. To be fair I'm in China. My Computer is always under attack. I am going to remove this product to see if I get my CD drive back.
