Did you not read the name of the program, FreeRAM XP Pro, or notice the release date (2006)? It was written for Windows XP and earlier, so don't expect specific support for Vista, 7 or 8 variations. Those later Windows versions supposedly handle RAM usage better on their own than earlier versions did. However, there are still several other RAM optimizers available if you are so inclined. One that comes to mind, and is kept updated, is Wise Memory Optimizer, from Wise Cleaner. Available as an individual free program, or as part of their Wise Care 365 'suite' (both free and pro versions).

Summary
I have used optimizers before, but this one is the worst! This software has a lot of bugs. Resource hog in it's own right. System was crashing, freezing, stalling, 3 or more times in an hour. Memory had to be freed every 15-20 minutes. Uninstalled and no more freezing, stalling or crashes. This isn't software,it's crapware.

When I had similar problems while using this program, it was because I had some RAM that was starting to fail. You may want to see if you have a similar problem.
Pros
Just works. I have an old OQO model 2 where the ram is soldered the the mainboard, and it as an SSD so I keep no page file so it obviously never ran well and the CPU was over taxed and it made the fan sound like a lifeguard whistle. As soon as I installed this product, everything worked better. The CPU temp went down, less fan noise and programs popped right open.
Cons
None that I can tell.
Summary
If you have 1 GB or less RAM, this WILL significantly improve performance. Aside from my other noted application where a swap file is generally not recommended (on SSD), I also have it installed on a computer with 2 GB and a page file enabled, and on another with 1 GB and a page file. Both of these machines seem to see less hard drive activity so I suspect less paging. The sees SIGNIFICANT performance increase.

When its optimizing memory automatically you will loose control of what you may be working on until the optimizer is finished.
You will find this very Annoying and uninstall the memory optimizer program.

Everything, including additional tweaks built in. Small installation size of a program and occupancy on hard disk.
Cons
developement of program has stoped, no new version for a long time. YourWareSolution shuould add Memory Scrub or Memory Defrag option like in MemTurbo.
Summary
With this memory management program that has everything needed to keep your RAM optimized is probably the best, doesn't matter, freeware, trial etc... it's out of class, at the very TOP. Including program's performance what's maybe highest between memory optimizer tools.

WinXP doesnt support more than 4GB of RAM in the PC total. So if the OS doesnt support that much RAM its due to the limit of 4GB of system RAM from WInXP. Program may support more if run on Vista or 7

considering windows XP wont allocate more then 3 GB of ram this is not all that important.
