Even if you're not a RAM whiz, you can still easily free up RAM on your running system? By selecting AutoFree mode and then 'go,' FreeRAM XP Pro can automatically optimize your system, balancing levels between your memory cache and the computer's speed. Those with a little more RAM know-how can specify the amount they'd like freed in the program's extensive settings menu. Remember that attempting to free up more RAM than your system can handle will subsequently slow it down. Reporting options, a slew of memory monitoring tools, and the ability to place a preset of your memory settings to the desktop are reasons to try FreeRAM XP Pro.
Publisher's description
From YourWare Solutions:FreeRAM XP Pro includes automatic memory monitoring and optimization; advanced tray support; fast, threaded freeing with a stop option; multiple system-metric monitors; a simple and attractive GUI; memory reporting and diagnostic logging; and real-time memory information. FreeRAM XP Pro's AutoFree feature intelligently scales how much RAM is freed with your current system status, thus optimizing RAM without slowing down your computer. Additionally, FreeRAM XP Pro's unique Global Memory Compression technology frees memory instantly in a way that is completely unlike other memory managers. FreeRAM XP Pro has been designed to be easy to use yet highly customizable by computer novices and experts alike. Version 1.52 enables Global Memory Compression by default for all memory freeing operations (this can be disabled through the Settings); adjusts AutoFree to be slightly more conservative when freeing RAM; and fixes a minor installation bug.

"An average performer"
Pros: The program is ok, but if you have serious RAM issues, you need more memory, not a steroid for the mem you have. It's easy to use, but did not impress me all that much.
Cons: It works, but if you have serious memory issues, get more memory. This will not save your life, it might save the moment.

"Slowed my computer"
Pros: ????Fairly simple to use??????
Cons: Although FreeRam didn't seem to hurt or freeze up my computer, it did seem to slow several applications down a considerable amount. ZA loaded extremely slow, & after several other applications loaded first. After a few attempts to adjust the settings, I decided to uninstall FreeRam instead, which restored normal performance back to my computer. I run a 6 year old computer with XP from ME with a 256 ram, p4. I also keep as few proccesses running as possible, & run a cleaner utilities, keep the cache clean, & defrag often. Perhaps my computer runs cleaner than I thought therefore FreeRam can't help much.

"Not for me!"
Pros: I think it work...I'm not really sure. :(
Cons: I'm running on 248 RAM (technically 256 but...) and currently have 60 + background processes. When FreeRAM XP Pro was freeing RAM, it completely slowed my system to the point that I could not do anything until it was finish. There is no official way to uninstall the program, and I'm hoping that deleting all the files will do the trick. And I'm not even sure if it helped my system in the first place. My verdict: try it and decide for yourself!

"No uninstall & contains malware, plus severe computer problems"
Pros: None
Cons: I had installed this program due to the fact that I frequently run numerous programs at one time, but I do have what you can call normal sufficient memory. I had installed this program yesterday along with another one of their other recommended programs not realizing that it did not contain an uninstall program, but also I had problems of this program interfering (tremendously slows down computer when freeing RAM) and shutting down/rebooting my computer actually 3 times with no warnings just this morning, which I know can lead to severe consequences to a computer. Also, even numerous times yesterday I was directed to their site (definitely Malware). I am one to always look at both Editor's Reviews and Users' Reviews, before downloading/installing programs and cannot believe that this program has been supported. I do not support this program at all and I do not recommend it being installed.

I have been using this program for many years and I have never had malware. CNET checks out all software to make sure it is free of malware (or otherwise posts a warning) and no one else has had that problem. So either the program actually does have malware, and only you experienced it while everyone else missed it, or the program actually does not have malware and the malware you are experiencing is coming from something else. Occam's Razor implies the former. If you do not like the program, just don't use it, it's not for everyone; but get your facts straight and think a bit before denouncing this software as being "definitely malware."

"Misleading And A Fad"
Pros: This program has no posivite functions that i can highlight as memory "optimization" programs are a fad, misleading and do not improve system performance.
Cons: This program, although free, is nothing but a ploy and a gimmick to all intent. The "memory optimization" ideal is that to the non IT-Literate users, it sounds like a tool to be used to somewhat increase performance on their PC. It does nothing of the sort. Although the memory management features between such Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux are great, this tool simply moves data from physical memory onto the users pagefile on the hard disk, and simply reads the data into memory once again when needed, decreasing performance and doing nothing whatsoever. This tool, like all other "memory optimization" tools are to be avoided. I'm surprised at the CNET Editors Review and Rating.
