Editors' review

FoxTab is a cross between Mac OS X's Expose, Windows Vista's Flip 3D, and the thumbnail view in Google Chrome. When you've got a lot of tabs open in Firefox, FoxTab offers a quick way to jump to the page you want without having to eyeball the name of each one. To toggle it on, just hit a small keyboard shortcut and it zooms out all the tabs into a giant wall. You can also summon it with a small button that sits next to the address bar or by choosing it from the right click menu. Once opened, you simply pick which tab you want to see by clicking it or scrolling with your mouse wheel. It's not nearly as smooth as other pretty tab-switching add-ons, but it's neat.

There are five different styles in all, and each one offers a different way to view the thumbnails you have open: like a standard grid view, a stack view that's identical to Vista's Flip 3D, or a shaded, curved grid. No matter what you choose, it's a pretty svelte alternative to hunting down the page you want by favicon and text alone.

    "It's free and it works."

    July 14, 2013   |   By mongomad

    Version: FoxTab 1.4.5

    Pros

I got this to convert flac songs to mp3 so I can add them to itunes. It does that just fine and intuitively.

    Cons

You have to read every step of the install and choose "custom" not their "recommended" option. You will see where to uncheck the toolbar it offers to install and so it doesn't change your browsers' homepages and READ subsequent screens and "decline" offers for nuisance software.

    Summary

Always choose "custom install" and opt out of toolbar offers and other stuff you do not want/need. This is true with any software, especially if it is "free". Gone are the days of opting in for bloatware stuff.
