From AlphaOmega Software: You want to be able to list all the fonts installed on your Mac? You want to compare them? You want to display all their possible main characters in any style, any size and any color? You want to display them with your own text sample? You want to print all of them on your printer? Then Font Viewer is what you need. Font Viewer allows you to list, compare, try and print all installed fonts on your system. It displays the total number of installed fonts on your system. It displays the name of each font next to its rank. It displays an example of text with each font. You can edit each example, which allows you to try out the fonts as you want.

You can replicate your own example through all the fonts. You can change the style, the size and the color of all the fonts. You can open multiple windows at the same time with all the fonts to compare them more easily. It can automatically display the main characters of each font. It can print all of your fonts with the selected size, style and text. It doesn't need any installation which makes it very easy to use. It is available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Latvian, Polish, Spanish and many other languages.

preview text is not global, only activated fonts are displayed.

Summary

only shows activated fonts and preview text must be typed for each individual font.

Pros

The preview as I scroll over the typestyle, the quick and short immediate view of the typestyle, the ability to sort in so many useful ways and the ease of importing fonts and using the program.

Whatever file it downloads to isn't compatible with Windows. I can't even open it. You have to search to find a program to open it. What a waste.

"It's free and it works"

Pros

It's a great way to quickly see your fonts and being genuinely free there are no nag or upgrade screens.

Cons

It doesn't do much besides show your fonts but I expected that.

Summary

One of the predecessers of this peice of software is the Typebook which unfortunately I have not found for Mac OSX. It allows the user different options for printing the active fonts. With this feature you can easily create printed font catalogs.

I don't know about you, but paying $10 for this isn't the best thing to do...it only has one main feature, and it doesn't show fonts in a variety of ways. There are many other font viewers out there which actually do more. For example, X Font Info is free and views uninstalled fonts. Font Showcase is a little buggy, but it still does more than this, and it costs $15 (I think). And lastly, my own FontViewer (there's no copyright issues here, just to get that straight). My FontViewer costs the same price and has 6 more main features. Compared to it, this program only has the "Font List". I will say (since I'm a fair reviewer) that the documentation, stability, and ease of use is pretty outstanding, but besides that, it won't do a lot for you.
