FindThatFont! is a handy and free tool that allows to preview fonts that are installed on your system and to classify them into over 30 different (editable) categories. By using this categorization you can find any font on your system faster than ever before.
It also allows you to easily compare fonts by adding them to a shortlist of favorites, search fonts by name, and create an HTML (Web page) file showing all the fonts on your system. FindThatFont! has an extension manager and allows developers to modify or extend the program with other features. Version 1 improvements in speed, threading and editable categories.

Zeros should be included in the preview. I was looking for fonts with strikethru zeros and when I saw that the program did not contain this feature I uninstalled it.

I would be happier if I could view the entire alphabet in upper and lower case, numbers and keyboard symbols in the sample text, instead of just a phrase.
Summary
I have somewhere around 400 fonts and wanted an easy program where I could organize and view fonts based on their attributes. That's exactly what this program does.

Quickly organized my fonts in to sensible categories.I was able to spend about a hour and organize the ones it could not identify. Make picking the right font super easy. Has a great preview of fonts and is simple to use! Great Truely Free Software

Would like to be able to create my own categories, but this is a very minor con.
Summary
Awesome awesome awesome, I don't normally bother to right a review on software, but this software warranted one. I am a graphic designer and I have over 5000 fonts and as anyone knows that has more than 100 fonts, viewing and selecting the right one can be very time consuming. This software makes it simple to preview your fonts, view them by categories. place fonts in multiple or different categories. It is just outstanding. It was well worth the hunt for a decent font viewer and Cnet had the best one by far. My hats off to Mathis Lagerberg the programmer, not only for making a great piece of software, but also making it free.

Comes with the ability to sort your fonts into groups and has already sorted the fonts on your system into categories. (calligraphy, handwritten, serif, sans serif, etc). On my system there were about 40 fonts that weren't sorted. You can tell it to show you just the sorted ones and sort them easily. I spent about 30 minutes reorganizing some of the categories and getting all my installed fonts sorted. I then installed new fonts to see how it would handle them. It automatically sorted them where it thought they should go and I was able to sort the unassigned ones in short order. You can delete categories that you won't be using.
I was a The Font Thing user, but it doens't work on my new machine and this one does the job quite well! I am even impressed with the way it scans each time you use it and assigned things to categories on it's own. TFT didn't do that.
Cons
I didn't see a way to add new categories. I would have liked this ability, but that's not going to stop me from using the program.
