FavBackup provides an easy-to-use tool for backing up and restoring Web browser data. Its simple layout and excellent results make it a great way to save your important Web browser information.

The program's interface is impressively simple to operate, with commands broken up into intuitive tabs and onscreen instruction to guide users. We were able to back up all our bookmarks, browsing history, cookies, and more with a single click of a button. Equally impressive, FavBackup will work with a wide range of Web browsers, including Mozilla's Firefox, Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Google's Chrome, Apple's Safari, Flock, and even Opera. FavBackup stores this data as a DAT file. Restoring your settings is equally simple: You only have to press another button to access the DAT file and watch it reorganize your browser's current settings to the backed-up version. You can also customize the level of information FavBackup saves, focusing its attentions on the data that's truly important. There's also a "Full" backup and restore option, though we failed to find any significant difference to its regular backup. This program would be a great way to recover important browser settings and data from a virus or crash. It's a valuable part of a regular Internet security system.

Pros
-used it in far off past and it worked great. but looks like it hasn't been updated for a while. -made backup of firefox. which is what i really needed (hope it works - though, recommended version is ancient). -portable
Cons
-supported browsers seems to be out of date. see summary. -is a windows program and backs up safari (which is no longer on windows) -new opera (blink engine 15+) not supported. -irrelevant for chrome which backs itself up -no seamonkey

Great App - I just wish it worked

Does just what you want it to do. If only there were an alternative that worked better.
Cons
Very fickle program. Terrible non intuitive interface. Program hangs. When you click on "restore"... "backup" is where your point to the target file.

I tried to use this to apply firefox settings I use in one pc to a new install of the same version of firefox on another pc. Did not work at all. Maybe it might restoring FF on same PC...but not useful for transferring settings

Pros
Used it for a full backup (including extensions) of Chrome 15 under Vista to an XP machine. Worked perfectly.
Cons
user interface for 'restore' asks for path of backup. I understood what was needed but better verbiage might be to ask for path of the source for a restore.
