For a free program, this multipurpose image tool strikes us as a good find. Although the main interface looks too cluttered with buttons at first glance, the three main windows are intuitive enough once get your bearings. FastStone Image Viewer for Windows boasts a nice default design, but you can customize it to your liking with several skins.
Clicking a thumbnail puts a larger view of the shot in the lower-left pane, and you zoom in simply by dragging the mouse around. Though its image-editing tools can't compete with those offered by a full-featured suite, there's still enough here to make a decent amount of tweaks to your shots. You can resize, crop, remove red-eye, and adjust color, brightness, and contrast. You'll also find a few simple effects and filters, including Lens, Waves, and Morphs. Other nifty features include multiple folder slide shows, batch cropping and Windows Vista support.
FastStone Image Viewer for Windows can batch-convert files into a number of popular image formats including GIF, BMP, PSD, and PNG, and the slide-show creator allows you to apply transitions, specify the interval between images, and add your own MP3s as a soundtrack. We can recommend this program to everyone but professional designers.

"The best Image Viewer on the Web"
Pros: I like being able to see almost any file extension with this Viewer. My hard drive had to be reinstalled recently. The 1st prograom I downloaded was this Viewer. Each update has improvements. It's an outstanding, user friendly program; and it's free.
Cons: I can't think of any negative issues regarding this program.
Summary: I've used this outstanding program for over a year. When I had to reinstall my hard drive recently, I discovered I needed this program from the very beginning. Being able to view the various graphic file extensions was of great assistance in helping me to install some of my newer graphics.
For those who have lots of photographs, the viewer is an outstanding feature; and you're able to organize your files immediately without any hassles. It's so user friendly that it's not necessary to even use the help file.
With its latest improvements, one is able to apply text to their photos or graphic files; as well as use layers in creating special effects to your pictures.
This program can be used not only by the professional artists, but can also be used by anyone just starting out with downloading photos and/or graphic files, as well as applying enhancements to same.
FastStone Image Viewer, with its enhancement features, is the best image viewer on the web; and it's free. It's an image viewer you'll never regret downloading.

"Quirky and Great!"
Pros: Simple, easy, quick, accurate,, and free. An excellent program to do minimal edits on the fly. The interface is quirky...but again, easy and intuitive. I have made this my default viewer...it opens quickly and I can do what I need to do and move on.
Cons: I have found none. It simply delivers.

"Excellent as usual"
Pros: Quick, to-the-point, great user interface, suits me perfectly.
Cons: Manual adjustments to pictures only - no AUTO adjust for quick fixes to problem photos.
Summary: If I need to tweak a picture, some programs offer an AUTO adjust button which is usually an improvement (that can be undone). Other than that feature missing on FastStone's offering (although many adjustments can be made manually for a great variety of settings), I can't think of any negatives for this excellent program. An AUTO adjust would be the icing on the cake for me.

"So far I like this program a lot."
Pros: Intuitive to use.
Does not try to take over your system.
Good Viewer/organizer for pictures.Cons: Resize & auto-adjust of brightness/colors could be easier.
Summary: Best program I have found since CompuPic by Photodex for handling/sorting my pictures. Unfortunately, CompuPic won't run under Windows7 and Photodex has dropped it from their repetoire. I'm not interested in slideshows or creating web sites, I just want to view and make simple modifications to my pictures.

"The best and simplest of them all!"
Pros: It is very easy and opens up quite a huge possibility of options.. this is my main application for picture enhancement and manipulations.
Cons: Well it is not exactly some high end graphic software but neither is everyone a graphic designer!

"I even paid for it"
Pros: I used it a few times and it was ok.
Cons: The program editing part disapeared and now I only have the viewer part. VERY disapointing. Maybe it is because I have Vista??? Do not recommend.

"can't be beaten"
Pros: Fast, reliable and just great for browsing picture files/camera cards. Even the basic editing tools will be perfectly adfequate for many photographers
Cons: nothing that I have found.
Summary: Considering it's free (though you really should mske sa donsation), it's a great package,Easy red eye removal, quick zoom, handy 'side by side' comparison.
