CNET Editors' review
We resize images all the time--to e-mail to friends, post on blogs, share on Facebook, and much more. Although we often resize images in a photo-editing program as soon as we take them off the camera, it's not uncommon for us to need a resizing tool that can be used the rest of the time. After all, who wants to launch a big photo-editing program for tasks that can be completed with a lightweight utility? That's where Fast Image Resizer comes in. This basic program lets users resize images as quickly and easily as anything we've seen.
The program's interface is plain, just a small square with a couple of buttons and a dropdown menu. To resize an image, simply select the desired resolution from the drop-down menu, drag and drop the image onto the program's interface, and the program will automatically resize the image and save it in the original folder, a subfolder, or a different folder of the user's choosing. The program comes with nine preset resolutions in the drop-down menu, but users can add custom sizes as well. Users can also choose whether to save the image as a JPG, BMP, or PNG file, and the program lets users rotate images and optionally copy EXIF information from the original file. The program's online Help file is well-written and thorough. Overall, Fast Image Resizer is a fairly basic program and doesn't have as many features as some others we've seen, but it does a great job of quickly resizing images with very little hassle.
Fast Image Resizer installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.

"Best I've ever seen,easy to use,perfect outcome."
Version: Fast Image Resizer 0.98
Pros
It's small, sits on your desktop unobtrusively, always ready to be used.
Cons
It doesn't go below 600x600,there are times when I need it to be a little smaller.
Summary
All in all, this is the best image resizer out there.I'm not that much of a technical person, but this is really easy to use, just set the size you want, drag the thumbnail into the resizer, and in less than 11.88 seconds,it's done. They "say" it's 11.88 seconds, but I think it's more like 5 seconds.

Summary
I love this program. It's so easy to set up and use. I originally downloaded it over a year ago and have it on 3 computers now. Perfect for when I want to create a photo CD with many photos when the original file sizes would be too large to fit on one disc.

"I've never seen one that compares - it's fantastic!"
Version: Fast Image Resizer 0.98
Pros
best resizing tool I've come across. I take 100's of pictures a day for work & I drop all of them at once into this little resizer box and in a matter of seconds I have my finished product and my originals are in the folder just in case I need them.
Cons
I can't think of a single one

"Sooooo Lite, simple perfection!!"
Version: Fast Image Resizer 0.98
Pros
...great for the quick pic resize! 1 dragged a odd sized px pic on to the little 2"-ish desktop converter pad and 0.12 seconds later I had a 3 x 2 pic for posting, it also a few other handy (very intutitive) tweaks.
Cons
Fast Image Resizer documentation/helper link: Its just one large-fonted Web info guide site link (as cnet, nor Fast Image Resizer Web site provided)

"Easy to use & it's free"
Version: Fast Image Resizer 0.98
Pros
You can resize one picture or an entire folder of pictures by just dragging and dropping the folder into the Fast Image Resizer Icon. Each pic is resized within a second or less & a separate folder is created for the "now" smaller resized pictures.
Cons
The only drawback I've found is that the resized pics are sometimes not as centered as you'd like them to be. One way around this is to edit the pic before using the Fast Image Resizer software.
Summary
This program makes fast work of resizing pictures. It creates it's own folder to keep the now resized pictures separate from the originals and can save you a tremendous amount of time by doing hundreds of pics at once by just moving the entire folder into the Fast Image Resizer Icon instead of using more expensive software that only allows one picture at a time to be edited. It's not perfect, but it's free. I mentioned in the "cons" section that sometimes a photo may not be as centered as you wanted it to be. For instance: The resized photo may cut a section out that you wanted to save. You can easily delete the "resized" photo and go back to the original and trim or cut out sections that you deem non-essential to the overall photo and then just re-run it using Fast Image Resizer. It works. This is not a professional resize program but it is simple to use and the quality is perfect for most casual users. Bottom line: I like this product and have used it for several years.
