Electronic Arts' FIFA soccer games are the most popular console soccer games worldwide, and FIFA World Cup continues the tradition of having the most complete and polished soccer game. The graphics in FIFA World Cup are second only to newly released Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, but when it comes to fast-paced polished gameplay, this game is tough to beat.

The control system on offense includes a joypad on the left and buttons for passing, shooting, and special dribble moves on the right. Holding down the pass button will increase power for long lobs or cross passes. We found the controls to be fairly responsive, but noticed that players often stop when receiving a pass, making high-speed fast breaks close to impossible.

As the World Cup version of FIFA's soccer franchise, you'll be able to play from the qualification rounds on through to the World Cup championship using your favorite team. The other game modes include quick Exhibition matches, Penalty Shoot-Outs, and Captain your Country mode. Captain your Country mode offers a unique play style where you choose your team, then create your own custom player who will be the only player you control during a match. In this mode an extra "Position" button is added, so if you get too far out of your assigned area, you'll be able to guide your player back into his original position. Obviously playing as a single position will not be as exciting (you won't be the star of every goal), but for the soccer purist, it's a great mode to have available.

Overall, if you want a complete soccer experience that is geared more toward fast-action World Cup gameplay, FIFA World Cup has all the features you need. With plenty of game modes, including multiplayer (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi only), FIFA World Cup 2010 is a great choice for soccer fans.
