Summary
I got tired of Windows search being so useless. Not once have I ever been able to find anything with it. I decided to find something better and I came across this little gem. I saw that it is old and I figured it couldn't hurt to try it. I'm very glad I did. Now I can actually find files I have lost. I have not been able to do that for years. I don't know how anyone even manages with Windows' native search. I have 4.5 TB of space on my computer and this little utility managed to find everything with the word I was looking for in the name or the folder name within about a minute-- without first spending days indexing the drives!

This search utility is simply fantastic!
For a long time I through that the built-in search of Windows 7-10 represented the state-of-the art and I found it quite useful. But the "Everything" search made me realize how much better Windows search could actually be! This little routine is much faster and, unlike the Microsoft search, it never misses any files.

If you find Microsoft Windows Search useful, you will be blown away by how much better this little routine actually is. It's hard to believe that the "Everything" programmer managed to develop a tool that is so much better than what Microsoft has been providing for a decade.

This tool is extraordinary. I've been using it for a long time, and I've gotten to the point where I can't function without it. On my home PC fixed drives it shows that I have close to 1.2 Million objects/files. This Everything search tool has never failed to find any files that match my filter. (I have many thousands more files when I connect my external drive, and it finds all those files as well.) It's very fast when it occasionally refreshes it's database, and it's instantaneous to do the search itself. For me, it has proved to much better than using the builtin file name searching in Windows. Please note that there is a much more current version on the Developer's web site than Download.com is showing.
My only regret is that I waited so long to do this review!

Pros
Everything is very fast, and finds everything on my Win8.1 computer. Have SSD + a 1T drive, and it really does (literally, including hidden files) find everything on the computer. Best of all, it does the search nearly instantaneously.

Summary
I stopped Windows search and removed the index database, since it was filling up my SSD. Everything is so much better, way faster and completely non-intrusive. Great program!

havent found any unfortunately as it misses so many directories as to not be useful.
Cons
all volumes are ntfs, yet misses majority of directories. have tried all the troubleshooting tips so just uninstalled. had heard great things just not playing out that way. using on windows 7 64 machine.

It's always worked well for me with over 6TB of data spread across multiple volumes/drives.
Pros
It does what it promises, and it's very fast.
Cons
Mine developed a strange error..when I contacted developer they didn't even acknowledge my email. I guess that's the problem with free software--you get it AS IS..or in this case, AS IT ISN'T!
Summary
I wish someone would write a more stable version, especially someone who is prepared to support it.

When I was getting an unexpected error I contacted the author and he provided me with instructions on how to work around it. I received the reply in less than 24 hours.

Always fast, complete --- every instance of the file/item listed and folders that hold them, easy manage the files right from the search; oldie but besty!
