This classic action/adventure game for the Mac is now available to Windows users. EV: Nova is the third game in the Escape Velocity series, and is by far the most ambitious installment to date. EV Nova thrusts you into a sprawling universe dominated by a myriad of warring factions, each sharing a common bond, but so philosophically different as to make conflict inevitable. With an open-ended plotline, you call the shots as to how your game will progress. You can beef up your ship and hire fighter escorts, or you can begin a career in trading with your fleet peacefully roaming the galaxy looking for great buys and running trade routes for credits. Several huge plotlines within the game take you to the edge of the universe or have you joining the Federation in its fight against the invading Aurorans.

"Truly Enjoyable"

Pros
Storylines are extremely well written, graphics are beautiful, many secrets and easter eggs exist without unlock codes, the setting and lore is more creative and entrancing than most science fiction novels or other video games.
Cons
Makes you want to buy the full game which is enormously overpriced, some of the storylines are difficult to "stumble upon" (walk-through required to experience the full game), requires quicktime.
Summary
For a top-down arcade style game, EV Nova manages to surprisingly combine the intriguing ambiance of Firefly/Serenity with the moderately addictive, open-ended playstyle of MMORPGs. There are at least 2 different, easy to find hacks to extend the trial period indefinitely although, if you find yourself really enjoying the game, it is at least only a one time payment to receive the full version...and you will be able to capture other ships.

It has an awesome plot. It is fun and addictive. I love this game.
Cons
It does not work on Windows 7 - well the game works, but you can't register the game if you have Windows and thus can only play for so long before the awesome plot comes to an end when the trial version expires.

OK...pros: It has very nice graphics, sound, the gameplay is amazing...meaning you can do pretty much what your heart desires...the variety of ships and armaments, etc is diverse, all in all it is a great game although keep in mind you will be hooked...badly...cause its good...very good!

Now ... to be dead honest...I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE GUYS DO NOT BURN SOME CD'S AND SELL IT ON THE GLOBAL MARKET!!!...you c i dont like buying stuff online...downloading them and giving away my credit card...so...what do I do...i stare in awe and realize I cannot actually buy this game...hmm...also i'm on the wrong continent so never mind visiting the folks that made it... well cons about the gameplay...umm i guess make a button where you can call apologize to someone if u shot them without intent :P...and a counter for how many ships you've destroyed when demanding tribute... and i guess that is it... :D

well i should start off by saying this:When i was 12 years old i bought a Mac from my friend cris. I was pissed when i learned Mac users couldnt run PC programs. The Mac came with EV:override installed and i didnt think it was going to be fun because i hate stupid si-fi games...this is not one of them. This is possibly one of the greatest game series ever made. EV:nova has more of a classic feel which i think was better then EV:override. I later bought a PC and was pissed that my Mac blew up. I now had a PC and no EV...i waited long for a PC version of these to come out. i have downloaded other games that claim to be like it...there not they are the crappy si-fi games with no real plot..this game has the greatest plot ever very open ended.
Cons
well no GAME cons but modem users like me will have to wait for the long download...but thats not so bad just download it when your sleeping and youll get though the night(if you can sleep)

Fun, and worth playing. One of the best space simulators out there. On the level of or surpassing the greats such as Privateer.
Also available on the website after you've registered the windows version are downloadable plugins for the first and second games, previously Mac Only!
