I have tried to download this update (you are forced to because the old version detects the update and won't start before you have updated it) both from work (100Mbit line) , at home (10Mbit line) and at a friends place (24Mbit line) and to download this 30MB file it will take over an hour!!! Yes - OVER AN HOUR!!! Do Pangea Software run their server on a 56Kb modem or what???
Awesome

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'd not played the original for a while when I saw V2 was out. Had a bit of time and started playing the original again. You guessed it. I got hooked all over again and had to try the demo of V2. Superb update! I imagine playing with a trackpad would be somewhat challenging, though, and $10 discount for registered V1 users would have been a nice gesture.
RUINED IT. DISGUSTING. ABSOLUTELY A SHAME.

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
They ruined it. I am so upset. So jaded- so frustrated. Totally betrayed. I was going to buy this. I was so excited to see Enigmo 2, blown-away and almost brought to tears as it was starting. Then, it happened. Always does. Despite all the new graphics, music, enchanting space theme, and, ehem, lasers- ACTUAL LASERS- like actual long, continuous lines (not chop-chops), (you know, how like lasers really are).. Yes dispite this, it is a failure, a complete piece of garbage, and for one reason, and one reason only. (AND IT WASN'T LIKE THIS IN THE ORIGINAL ENIGMO). Are you ready folks? Playability. When you first select an object (pale, mirror etc..) it's fine, but then a 'highlighting ring' apears which is used to rotate it. IT'S TOO D .. .. .. .. SMALL! TOO THIN! I can't believe this- call me a nitpicker, I don't care; but I'm right. They are wrong and I am right, and until they fix it do not buy this product. DO NOT SUPPORT THE DENEGRATION OF PLAYABILITY WITH NEW GRAPHICS. THIS IS THE TRAGIC MISTAKE. Join with me and write them so that I am not the only one calling this out. I would've emailed them first but this has to happen now. In the original this ring was WIDER. Yes, WIDER. You didn't have to conciously and tediously position your mouse right on the ring and click. (And yes I know once you do it, THEN you can freely position). They could easily keep the new cool blue look, only make it wider or make it function like before. (I think what you did is click the object to activate it and the positioning ring was already active and you could just go ANYWHERE within it. Try it: if you're not TOTALLY P'D that they betrayed you by making you center -in on this 3 pixel wide ring first which you have to click on, totally disrupting the ease and flow of the original game then fine. If not, demand that they change it. Excitement, emotion, and pain. What a shame. This was a truly wonderful game.
Awesome!

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Enigmo was wonderful, Enigmo 2 is plainly awesome and magic. Playing with the new magnetic particles is pure fun AND beauty. After playing the demo, I knew I had to buy it which was done in a couple of minutes. The music are great, as in the precedent opus, but more relaxing (which is nice and needed). The graphics are better. The gameplay is enhanced. The controls of the camera are mediocre but it's probably because I use a trackpad and didn't set the sensitivity to a proper value. The only real drawback I felt was the (relatively) small amount of levels as I finished the 8 levels demo very quickly (but I suppose it was made to be easy and I still have to play all the levels of the full version). Anyway the level editor should break this limit. I'm awaiting for your levels! If you liked Enigmo, you should love Enigmo 2.
One of the finest Mac games ever has gotten EVEN...

- ...better. Amazing.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Pangea Software is the king of creative Mac games in my book. For many years, I have trusted them for games that are not only incredibly entertaining and imaginative, but "safe" for the whole family. My 8 and 7 year old kids' first exposure ever to computer games were to Pangea Software's games. And while not "game junkies" like many kids are (we are very selective) they continue to play even the oldest of Pangea's games to this day. (My son's birthday cake was even Rollie McFly (Bugdom I) once, created by my wife).

That said, Enigmo is at the top of the heap for fun, addictive qualities -- and most of all, (this is not a negative) EDUCATIONAL material. The look in my 7 year old's face when he is constructing these incredibly complex "machines" in space --- is nothing short of magical.

For those of you not familiar with the game, just think: Legos-Meets-Erector Sets (showing my age) - meets NASA meets... nevermind. But it's a brain-builder. Trust me. Years ago, when version 1 came out, my son immediately started drawing his own versions and puzzles. This game is fun, but really requires some *thinking*. The amazing thing is that the new version allows user to BUILD THEIR OWN GAMES. We are in heaven. This is just a great game for the whole family... challenging, fun and educational.

One more thing. If you're hip to their other games, you'll know this -- their original "game music" is awesome. Enigmo 2 continues in that tradition.

Great job, guys. Thank you for years of creativity.

(and no, I don't work for the company). -ml
